Piece of cake...

Well, I'm alive, kicking, and praying for a massive fart to move some gas. Surgery went well. They tried to "ice me" right up front, by postponing me back a couple of hours, but it wasn't so bad. The lady waiting on the other side of the curtain was pretty cool and we managed to have a few laughs. I guess they restrained me in recovery because I was trying to take my tubes out. I don't remember any of it. My wife tells me they kept me in recovery longer because my sugars and blood pressures were too high. Same as the last time I had surgery. I felt pretty good considering, once I got to my room. Once they took the catheter out life took on a whole new perspective, and I went out and did a victory lap around the bariatric ward.  I made it home about 3PM today. I'm a little sore. It's more discomfort, than pain. I'm burping like a pre-pubescent drinking beer for the first time, but I just can't lose this bloated feeling. Oh well, it's a small price to pay. Thanks again for everyting fellas. I think I'm going to take a walk and show my scars to some neighbor ladies.  DD

Hey Dee, Congrats on being home, and making it through so easily.   I can relate to the delay - I was stuck in the pre-op curtain area for about 2 hours (getting updates on the complications the patient ahead of me in line was having!!!!!!!).  Oh, and the anesthesiologist telling me that he wasn't sure if he could put the tube in without knocking out my dental bridges (i have 2 bridges up front that make up front 6 of my teeth, and without them I look rather scary!!!!!!). And, as far as the lady on the other side of the curtain - well, I was lucky enough to hear ALL about how the surgeon was going to make her cootchie nice and tight, and do something with her baldder to keep her from dripping!!!!!!!!!!!  Now, don't get me wrong - i'm sure this woman is much happier post-op, but that wasn't exactly the prettiest image to have in my head as I'm waiting to go under the knife..... Anyway - enough about me - congrats again, and I'm glad you're home and doing so well.    The time flies by - I can't believe I'm 5 weeks out already....    Hope everything continues to go smoothly for you, Chuck

Glad you're home and back in the Locker Room. Kick back in a recliner, follow your doc's orders. walk frequently, and, voila!--you're on the road to Slimville. Enjoy the trip.

DD, It is good to hear that your surgery went well and you had no complications.  Once you can pee on your own and pass gas, you will feel a lot better.  You already know that walking is important, as well as drinking. Sugar free ice pops are great at this stage.  I really liked peppermint as well. You will be surprised at how quickly you'll bounce back.
