It will be a month after surgery for me on the 21st.....The problem i'm having is I really hate yogurt and warm breakfast cereals. I do love gritts and  poached eggs with vinegar. I know they only want you to eat egg whites with out the yolks. I did eat a little bit of gritts with 2 poached eggs the other morning and I chewed it up good and it seemed to go down ok. Should I stop or what....could use some help here folks. Dave

If your surgeon gave you specific post op instructions, you should try to follow them as closely as possible.  There will be plenty of time to eat "normal" again.  I don't see anything wrong with grits though...it is kind of a grainy warm cereal unless you make it with lots of butter then that might be an issue.  Scott

I have an egg every morning. My NUT prefers I would use an egg substitute but said the real thing was OK. I had blood work done this week and My cholesterol was 132,   HDL 45 and LDL 92. MY tryglycerides was 76 I think so doesn't look like it is hurting me.  pan head

I don't have a cholesterol problem so I eat as many eggs as I want.  When I had my RNY, the nutrtionist felt the same way as you but my primary doctor told me to eat as many whole eggs as I want.  Check with your surgeon and primary doctor and ask them about your diet.

I agree with sjbob, ....talk to your primary doctor, diatician and surgion. If your colesterol is good eat the whole egg. I do, nutricianist said it wasent to good for colesterol, but since my col. was low and I didnet overdue it I was ok. Primary said it was just fine as well. As for the grits diatician told me as long as I didnt eat them to dry, make them more like cerials consistancy and not thick.

Post op I ate cream of wheat and oatmeal and in place of milk I used my protein shake to thin it out and give me the protein I needed. Ben
