Hey Wahoo, I hear your pain fella. You know it's easy to slide back into old habits especially when things are tough and we're depressed with all the garbage of life. It sounds like you are doing something very special for your friend's daughter. And your dad being in ICU is tough I know. These things catch us unaware and unprepared, but we must remain positive and upbeat - for them. Try to go out and do them some real good by taking care of yourself and rather than heading for the destructive power of sugar - take a walk, lots of walks, wal****il you can't walk any more and then reflect on the important things in life. It sounds like they need you healthy and you need to be healthy for yourself. No matter how much we want to we can't walk their path for them, but we can be healthy enough to go the distance with them, but you are doing anyone any good - turning to the destructive forces that caused you to want to get healthy in the first place.
Sorry for being so wordy but that's what I feel.
Best of Luck, Bob.
Those Pure Protein Chocolate Delux and Smores protein bars at 1.76 oz each with 20 gm protein and only 170 calories help me feel good, help me get my protein, and satisfy any need I have even imiagined about sugar or candy. Not going there, go to the protein bars. I has helped keep me on the straight and narrow. I but them buy the box at Walmart bu t they have a Pure Protein website that shows where their local suppliers are.
Best of luck witht fundraisers and hope everyone recovers soon and/or suffering is minimal.

the way i see it is the reason i always failed at diets is because i felt like i could never eat anything i wanted so i rebeled. and after the surgery i had the same problem with sweets. so i started doing this if i crave something like reeses cup they are my weakness . what i do is i keep the little bitesize cup. and when i am craving one i have one or to of the small ones. if i eat more than that i get sick anyway but it makes me feel normal. the one thing this surgery has tought me is it really is all about moderation and if you don't let it control you then you stay in control and that is the key. i now it is easyer said than done but hey you just paid 30000 dollars for the best tool there is out there to control wieght but that is just what it is is a tool not a cure not a fix all so master using the tool and don't what soever feel guilty because that will just make things worse. with any addition it is one day at the time and if you blow it and eat 12 lbs of sweets today just look at the bright side you didn't get fat over night and you didn't lose all the wieght over night so you can always start back tommorow and that is a whole new do and a whole new chance. so good luck and remember we do all have a bond that can never be broken and we maybe not always me or dxe or any one of us will always be there but the faced and names change but someone will always be there to take our place to ppick you up when you fall and that is what a merithon is about and we are all running side by side. so hang in there buddy
well, at least you know you're messing up. so just start over tomorrow. let it go for today and give yourself a break. you've got pressure.
as for the sugar. well, unlike joe those protein bars are like candy for me so i can't do them. try what i do for a sugar fix. i get strawberries and dump a bunch of equal on them. i cut them up and let a little water stay with them. put the equal on them and let it soak. you'll get a little diet sugar in the juice. they taste great and they're low calorie. also, i eat the s/f dryers juice bars and s/f popsicles. all of these help with the sweet cravings. also try a little peanut butter. unfortunately there's just not much we can do. oh, one more thing i do for cravings is make no fat hot chocolate with cool whip lite. all of these things are low cal and very satisfying at least for me.......carbonblob

Tommy, , CB is absolutely right. You can't change yesterday and you have to give yourself a break. What's done is done and you are dealing wiht a ton of pressure right now. But the fact that you realize what you are doing under pressure is 90% of the battle. Now it's up to you to choose, to decide, to get angry with your behavior and look for a positive way. Like Joe suggested with the protein bars and such.
My heart goes out ot you as you serve so many people right now and take on their problems. What you cannot afford to do is lose yourself in this process. Gaining a few pounds back is not the end of the world, making it a habit that continues is.
So on the one hand, extend yourself some grace as you would advise to others for what you have done. But resolve that now that you know what you are doing, it is in your power to do something about it by making better choices during this time of stress.
Will be praying for you, your dad, and friend's daughter.

Tommy,
Each day is a new day. We can't undo what we did yesterday but we can learn from it. Start today like it is the first day of the rest of your life. Remember all that you have gone through to make the progress which you have and why you are doing it. Forget the mistakes of yesterday. Take cofort in all that you are doing for others but most importantly do not forget to do what you need to for yourself. If you slide back, how will you be able to be there for your friends daughter and your father when they need you?
