Today is FAT Daves last day. Tomorrow healthy Dave is re-born. Tomorrow at 7AM I report for surgery, and begin my journey to good health in earnest. I just wanted to take a minute and give everyone on this board a heartfelt thanks for getting me to this point. Your friendship, humor, and caring for me have meant a lot over the last few, stressful,  months. I just want you all to know how much I appreciate everyone of you. THANKS. It's nice to know I have someplace to go afterwards , as I adjust to my new life. So hang loose, and I'll be back this weekend with all the gory details. DD

Hey DD, I just wanted to wish you good luck tomorrow.   I'm a newbie with the surgery, but wanted to take a minute to congratulate you on reaching your surgery date.  I'm sure you'll do awesome - you have a great attitude, and in my own personal experience, attitude is a big part of the journey.  All your preparation for the big day will pay off for you on the other side of surgery. Best of luck, Chuck

Dave, Good luck tomorrow.  How long do you expect to be in hospital?  Butterworth, right?  I will definately call you within the next week to see how you're doing and if at all possible, try to see you while I'm in Michigan.  We'll all be thinking of you.  Good luck. Floyd

I remember the day before surgery so well.  As it turned out all my worrying was for nothing.  The staff took real good care of me, the pain was not bad (or the pain meds were just good), and the time in the hospital was a breeze.  To be honest, the first 4 weeks of recovery had more hurdles for me then the surgery itself.   I wish you well Dave.  Tell fat Dave is was good to know him.  I wish you all the best my friend.   Please remember to do your post-op breathing excercises and walking.  I really believe that they helped speed my recovery and they are essential to reduce the risk of pulmonary embolism and to increase lung health.   Be sure to report back in when you are home and are up to it.

Dave, Go knock it out of the park!! Enjoy all of the legal drugs they'll let you have!... "...I'm feeling a good bit of anxiety this morning.  Anything to help calm my nerves while I wait for surgery prep?"--- Very helpful phrase!   They will give you liquid IV jesus. Be ready for a crappy week to follow and some terrible toilet ups and downs... Then when it's "not so bad" you'll feel better.  Yes? Can't wait to see fit and trim Dave photos!! Get some sleep tonight no matter how hard... Best Wishes- Dx
