I see on many recipes for smoothies, shakes, etc. that it calls for chocolate or other flavored protein powders.  What is it and where do I get it? Thanks, Al

I get the Whey Protien in the chocolate flavor from WalMart, big gallon container of dry powder for about $12. They have Vanilla and Punch as well.

My favorite flavored is the Designer Whey chocolate. But my ALL TIME favorite is the Unjury unflavored protein powder. It's a little more pricey, but it's SO worth it to me. I mix it with ... well, anything. Crystal light, jell-o, pudding, loads of stuff. It doesn't add much flavor at all, nor texture. Give it a whirrel.

I am not a paid spokesperson for the Unjury line of products, but I certainly will endorse them for FREE!! Like our brother said.....Unjury does cost a little bit more than the Super Store products, but it is oh so very absolutely without a doubt beyond question worth it!!!!! The only product that I did not like was the chicken flavor. ALL OF THE OTHERS WERE GREAT! Regardless of what brand you choose...just remember that protein is so very important and in your first few weeks after surgery the protein shakes will be the only way you can get the amounts you need. Also....read your labels.  Some powders are more concentrated than others.  10g/scoop v. 20g.  Some products are whey base and others are soy.  That can make a difference as to how well you tolerate the product. Another consideration....speak to your NUT.  (S)he may be able to provide you with free samples of many different products and you can try before you buy.  Mine was so cool that she gave me enough samples to get me through my first 2 weeks post-op!

I use HDT 5+1 because it's cheap.  However, I get my stuff from www.netrition.com .  You can go to their site and look up low carb protein powders and look them over.  They carry many brands.  They show nutrition info on all of the products that they sell.

I use the Kroger brand Chocolate Whey. It has 23 grams protein and with 1% milk it comes to 31 grams total....I also add 1 sugar free fudge sickle and 1 teaspoon of coco powder (unsweetened) to it also. Tastes like a Dairy Queen shake. Dave
