50 mile April Challenge - Checkpoint 1
Howdy Gents.
Sorry I'm a couple of days late with this. Looks like we'll do three checkins this month instead of four. Busy days ahead.
So how are you doing? Are you on pace? Need to pick it up a notch? These checkins help me check my progress and keep myself accountable.
Last month: 96 miles
Goal this month 100 miles
Miles April 1 - April 9: 34 miles (20 biking)
I got into a couple of new classes last week at the gym. I've been wanting to try a spinning class for awhile but have been nervous that I was too big to pu**** so hard. Well I just did my second class yesterday and feel very challenged there. It's going to take awhile to figure out how to position the bike seat, handles, etc., for all of the up and down movement that's required of the class. But I think I can do it. I'm going to keep going back and see if I can keep up with the instructor a little bit more each week.
I also took a step class last Wednesday and Thursday. It's a great cardio for about 40 minutes solid with no break. After that they work out abs (not as good on that yet, but I'm trying). Kind of fun to mix it up a little bit in addition to doing the weights.
Would love to hear about your progress.
Stronger everyday.

S'up, Dan?
Yeah... I've been MIA for the past week or so, as well.
Just too much goin' on 'round here.
So, since this is my final month leading up to Triathlon season, I need to really put the hammer down and log some serious mileage. Unfortunately, my left hip flexor has been a bit wonky for the past month... so I cut out all running for the past week. Consequently, I've spent more time on the bike and in the pool.
I'll get back on the treadmill / road starting tomorrow morning.
Odometer Check:
Last Month Total Miles: 257
Miles Sun, April 1st - Tues, April 10th: 99
(78 Bike / 5 Run / 12 Elliptical / 4 Swim)
Personal Monthly Goal: 300
Percent of Month Elapsed: 33%
Percent of 50 Mile Goal Achieved: 198
Percent of Personal Goal Achieved: 33%
April will be my last month of these outrageous numbers until the season is over in September. Starting in May, each month I'll have a taper week where I slowly cut down on the training leading up to an event. Then, immediately after each race, I'll take 4-7 days off (depending on the length of that particular triathlon) for recovery.
First up:
Sunday, May 6
New Jersey Devilman Sprint Triathlon (750m swim / 23.5 mile bike / 4 mile run) Through the heart of the South Jersey Pinelands.
See Ya At The Finish Line.
Be Well,
A.J.

This is my first challange. I started a little late in the month but that ok. My goal is 50 miles for the month. About half of my miles are from walking and the other half are from running. So far I am at 14 miles. I really feel a difference. I think this is what I needed to kick start my weight loss.
