Before my surgery, I really didn't eat much fast food, but as soon as I got a scheduled date, I went fast food nuts, for about 6 weeks, although, oddly enough, I lost almost 25 lbs before my surgery. I just went food crazy, but I never was a soda fan, so I still steered clear of that.
Then, a few days after surgery, I was actually SAD that I'd never be able to enjoy ****ty food anymore, and was wondering if I had made a mistake!! Imagine that?! Me, thinking buffalo wings, and Ben & Jerry's was more important to me than years on my life; years with my kids?! When I thought about it in those terms, I felt like a real jerkoff.
Don't get me wrong, I read on here about some guys who seem to come out of surgery not missing, or wanting, anything. Good for them, but as for me, it's been 2 months, and even though it's ALOT better than it was, there are still times when I see something, or smell something, and I get kind of bummed. Then, I realize that I'm getting sad over food, and I feel like a real douchebag, and it bums me out more. Slowly, but surely, it'll get better.
I'm a HUGE football fan. I'm just glad football season is still about 6 months away. That's when I'd eat every ****ty thing you could imagine....now, I've got 6 months to toughen up, and find some substitutes for my old reliable snacks....wings, beers, burritos, Chinese, 24oz Delmonicos, fries, chips.....Jesus, now it'll be yogurt, and sugar free iced tea.......
Good luck to you, Hoss....
