Hi Hans, I had to do a six month pre-cert for insurance. I thought it would take for ever, but it did pass. I can only echo what the other guys have said. I was put on a low fat diet that followed to the letter to shrink my liver. My surgery only took forty five minutes. The Doc said it was because of loosing thirty five pounds on the diet and it did indeed shrink my liver. Made his job easier. I have had no complications and have lost eighty six pounds since surgery and one hundred eighteen from my first consult with him. Hang in there.  pan head

The weight loss also helps shrink the size of your liver so the procedure is easier to do lap instead of having to open you up. I went from 460lbs to 388lbs (6 months) by my surgery date. I am now down to 230lbs. Just consider it a jump start on the whole WLS process. Good Luck,

Hans, I had to do a 6 month pre-op diet.  My doctor said it was to reduce the possibility of complications and to shrink the liver.  Do your best to follow your diet and the time will fly by.  Good luck with everything,
Jim

Hi Jim,

They told me that if I got the referral from my PCP I to world have had to do a 6 week but since it comes straight from the surgeon it only has to be 3 months.  Then the 3 week of liquids. After hearing everyone and putting together what the NUT said It is for my best.

Thanks,

Hans
