Sorry I have not been around much lately.  Still only have limited access to a computer.  Most mornings I wake up so thirsty it feels like my tongue is made of sandpaper.  Has anyone else experienced this.  I don't think its dehydration, because I believe I am drinking enough, but I am interested in knowing about any of your experiences. It's funny that you mention that, Scott.  The same thing was happening to me until a couple of weeks ago.  It went on for about a month.  I was hydrating myself the whole time, thinking that I was under-doing it and that's why i was dry, but suddenly it just went away.  Not sure why.

Scott Glad to hear from you buddy.  I stay thirsty all the time.  I always have something liquid with me at all times.   If I wake up during the night I have to have a few sips. It seems that when I sleep on my back it is worse when I wake up.  That leads me to believe that I am breathing thru my mouth and the dust particals in the room cause the cotton ball feeling in my mouth.  Now that is just my personal view and not a professional opinion.  I am looking forward to hearing what some of the other guys have to say about their exeriences. Dan

I have this problem when I have been sleeping with my mouth open.  The breathing through your mouth for a long period of time like that, especially if the air is dry, will dry out your mouth. Sometimes if feels like someone dumped a desert in my mouth overnight.  My solution is to sleep on my side as much as I can.  I find that helps me a lot.  That and having a humidifier in the bedroom for nighttime use.  It's not a matter of hydration, just a matter of a very dry mouth.

Hey guys.....I don't want to scare anybody. Has everyone been tested for "Sleep Apnea?" (sp). I found out a couple of years ago that I had it and a few weeks later I had congestive heart failure. I had always slep on my back with my mouth open. To make things worse my right side of my nose is almost closed due to an old football injury which made it harder to breath. I now sleep with a CPAP machine. I hoping I can get rid of it after I loose more weight.........it just a thought....you might want to check into it. Dave

i have sleep apnea, and use a CPAP machine.  i sill get a dry mouth because my mouth drops open sometimes when I sleep.  So I've switched to a "full" face mask.

Hmm, this is strange Scott.  So, I'm about 3 weeks ahead of you and I went through the very same thing about a month ago although I would tend to wake up during the night with my mouth all dried out.  Thought it was due to a change in thyroid meds that was causing it because my dose had been increased.  Then, all of a sudden, it just disappeared (maybe a week and a half ago it stopped) and there had been no changes in meds, etc.  Very odd isn't it that we seem to have experienced it about the same amount of time post-op?  Hopefully it will go away for you soon!  Good to see you around too! Same here Scott, dry mouth when sleeping with mouth open.  Also have Diabetes 2 which contributes.  My doctor prescribed a spital replacement spray for me.  It's pretty funky but it worked on the short term.  If you don't get any better, I have a railing over here....
