I completely concur.  Believe me, there are days when what's on tv doesn't even look appetizing as well.  Keep your eyes on the prize (not the fries!!) Al

Hello Al....I know what you mean by liquids suck. Thursday will be my second week post op. The problem I have is taking a good dump. I was eating cream of rice and cream of wheat and it felt like I passed a small car when I finally went, so now I take "nothing but" liquids. Take care ole' bud..... Dave

Misery loves company Al. Welcome to the losers bench. I am 11days post op sittng here eating my rice cereal with double milk. Yum. Mushies aren't a whole lot better. New flavors but stuck here for 4 weeks. The food adds kill me too. They are everwhere, TV, radio, and even when I go to watch a news video on the net i have to sit  thru a steak grillin first. Argh! And the longing lets me know how much my eating was for comfort food and not just nutrition. That really does suck. No Comfort food now, no sex either yet. Thank God for hockey. Go Penquins! HI Al: It will get better.  But those ads are nerve wracking.  As you move to "real" food, the ads will have less an impact on you.  Right now you are still in the "i miss food" mode.  I am 10 weeks out and barely notice the ads except for a few which were my culprits. Keep up the good work and keep you eye on the journey.   better life is ahead. Rich

Hey Al,  Yep! I remember those awful days of liquids and pureed foods. It was very tough for me to get past the idea of not being able to eat like before surgery. I refused to cook, or participate in any eating event with my family for some time. It really hurt my wife, but she knew that I was going through withdrawals from food. During those first six weeks, I couldn't wrap my mind around the idea that it would get better down the road.

I'll end by saying that it does get better. And I know how hard it can be to believe it.

For me the liquid part was no problem...I had to bring a cathater home with me because I couldn't pee on my own for a week.  Liquid goes by fast.  The puree is the boring part.  You guys and tuna salad are going to become good buds!  That and egg salad is what I lived on during the puree period.  Add some low fat mayo, pickle relish made with Splenda, salt and pepper and you'll be set.  It really does go by quickly.  If you are bored go stand on the scale.  That will get you motivated.  PS sip sip sip.  You won't be able to get in all your liquid and protein.  Just try your best and you'll do well.  Brian in Turlock CA

Be strong, young jedi. The time will pass quickly. Do your best to concentrate on taking your vitamins, drinking your water and getting as much exercise as you can.  I loved eating more than possibly most people and even I got over it. I eat to live now, not live to eat. Good luck.

Stay Strong Al.  I'm 6 days Post-Op.  Don't know about you, but I'm on Clear Liquids for 2 weeks, then Full Liquids for 2 weeks, then onto Mishies for 1 week before I try Solids again!   I've had a couple weak moments, but it's not like I can really do anything about it even if I wanted to (which I don't) but I'd imagine, I'd just puke it up! (yummie)
Just try to find something else to satisfy your craving.  Get some Sugar Free Candy, it works for me ok.

hang in there, your not alone bro!

Same thought here - it is amazing how much the brain wants the food. Oh well - it does get better with time. I am 14 days post-op. Just started the blended diet - feeling full with thicker food.
