Fun Day today
I had a fun time today. The sports talk radio station I listen to held tryouts for listeners to play on their charity flag football teams. They play it in the arena where the Mavericks and Stars used to play before the new one was built, so a big venue. The game is between the morning and afternoon shows with big name ex players playing as well. Last year, they had Troy Aikman, Roger Stauback, Hershal Walker, Moose Johnson, Michael Irvin, Jay Novacheck among others. This years quarterbacks are Roger again and Danny White. So anyways, I went and tried out today. It consisted of running a timed sprint and going out for a couple of passes. I didn't make the team or even the final 15 cut, but I had a blast. Something I could have never done before WLS. I actually felt normal and it felt awesome. I did ok on the sprint (baseline to baseline on a basketball court in 5.12 seconds - not a speedster, but wasn't the slowest either :) ) and caught one of the 2 passes. Lost the long fade in the lights. Just wanted to share that a 37 year old went out and had a normal moment and felt 20 years younger.
Hey that looks like fun. I played in something like that a few years back here in California but, it was a Oakland Raiders verse 49rs game. It was a great time. Keep up the good work and enjoy the new you. By the way I played at Nebraska back in the mid 80s with Jay Novachecks brother Bump Novacheck he was a great guy but got hurt early in his carreer.
