GOT MY MRI EVAL TODAY

DAN PACKARD
on 4/2/07 4:03 am - KOKOMO, IN

Well I saw my PCP today and reviewed the report from the MRI from my neck that taken the other day.  In his opinion surgery will probably be required to fix the problems revealed in the MRI.  So he is setting me up with an excellent surgeon here in Kokomo for an evaluation and probably surgery.  Just what I need right now.  I tell you guys; sooner or later this old 1943 Packard is going to be refurbished like new.  Looks like I have a fun spring and summer coming up.  He prescribed a glove for me to wear that supports my left hand so I am trying it out now.  He also added another anti-depressant to help with the depression that I am going thru with all that is going on.  So it looks like there might me light at the end of the tunnel yet.   One thing that I believe is happening is that all the strain on my body by carrying over 450 lbs of weight for many years has taken its  tole on my body.  I certainly do not regret WLS, but now we have to fix the damage.  The doc was very encouraging this morning.  We discussed all the positive medical changes that have taken place since WLS in areas that are critical to living.  The pains and weakness will just take a little longer and requires a lot of patience on my part. The input that you guys gave me on my last post has really motivated me and I plan to see this thru.  I am so glad that you younger guys have made the decision to have WLS so that hopefully you can avoid some of the damages to the skeletal parts of your bodies.  I may never be able to run a 10K or lift weights like my friend Fred, but I do hope to avoid going back to the power chair.  I am so glad to see so many new faces here on the men's board and hope that I can help you guys thru your journey just as so many have helped me.  I do not know what I would do without all your friendships and hearing how WLS has changed your life.    It is now time to quit having my daily pity parties and move on to helping others.  So that is the role I want to resume here on the board.  I am not ready to go back to doing daily humor because Daniel is doing such a wonderful job with bringing humor to you.  I will drop out a few bits of humor when I can under the title of FROM THE BOARD JESTER.   Again this is not to replace Daniel's Daily Humor post to supplement it from a retiree. If there is anything I can do to help you thru your journey let me know either by a post or email. So I am getting up off the Pity Potty, flu**** and move on. God Bless All of You Dan

Hello Dan, You'll probably never really know how much you've helped us already, with your humor posts and shared experience, strength, and hope. So flush away, my friend, and let us help you, too, if we can.

Glad to see you are back and feeling better, Dan.  I'm sure our 80 degree weather and the fact that everything is blooming are probably helping you feel better too.  I know they are for me. I'm glad to hear you are excited and hopeful about your upcoming fixes! Happy Hoosier Spring time (it's going to snow on Thursday)! Ken
