See Nutritionist and Psychologist tomorrow, The Journey starts!

Well my wife’s and I journey starts tomorrow. We are going to do this together and have our operation about 5 – 6 weeks apart. We see our Nutritionist and Psychologist for the first round. Nut is going to start her diet program and the Psychologist is going to start her evaluation.  I am Scared and excited at the same time. It is that whole unknown thing again. Had a real bad week I lost my dad and I was not going to let that set me back. We just got back from FL where he was laid to rest. I have had these appointments for a month. Boy I was not this nervous getting marred or getting our two foster children. Well Off to the deep end.

First let me offer my condolence for your loss. Then I would like to offer my congrats on your choice to begin this journey. My wife and I start just two weeks ago. We have had the psych eval and have meet with the nutritionist. I can completely understand your nervous excitement. Have you decided on a surgury type?

Thanks, DAD is in a better place. No more pain.  Yes we have decided. We are going with Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery laparoscopically. Dr. Patel here in San Antonio, tx is suppose to be one of the best

 

Hans, Sorry to hear about your father.  I can say for a fact that doing WLS with your spouse is the best idea.  My wife had surgery 11 days before me and we've been very successful.  We have our one year follow-up next week.  I've lost 140 pounds and she's lost 170 pounds.  Are you having yours first or the wife?  Good luck to you both. Sorry to hear about your Dad. I've been married for 16 years, and have two children of my own. Compared to that, RNY is a breeze.  Your wife will be eating "real" food while your on liquids, then you'll be back to eating "real" food when she is on liquids. WOW! The best part is your wife can help you while your mending, then you can do the same for her.  Most of us understand the scared and excited feeling you're going through,  Change is inevitable.  Getting your life back is priceless. Thanks Ronnie, DAD is in no pain anymore. I am new to this children thing. My wife and I started in Dec 2005 fostering special needs children. There was such a need and I felt a calling. I think you hit the spot though. It is all about getting my life back and being able to spend it with the children. Thanks, I fell much better.

Here helth is a little more frail then mine.
