Am I doing something wrong
Hi guys,
I am ahving a major problem. My surgery was January 10th. Late last week I developed a probelm eating anything. Can't even keep water down at times. It seems my pouch is always full of air/gas and the result is nothing I swallow can enter the pouch. I get nauseated and frequently toss whatever I ate.
Is this normal? What am I doing wrong? My allergies are in overdrive and my sinuses are draining constantly.
Thanks for your help.
Rich
Try this trick to minimize the air intake: When consuming liquids, sip the liquid into your mouth without swallowing, then close your mouth and seal your lips together, then swallow while your mouth is closed. This sounds odd, but it works. Also, try to stay away from straws, you suck in a lot of air while drinking from a straw. This doesn't last forever, maybe a couple of months or so, for me.

Hi JP,
I called his office. His nurse returned my call and told me to see my PCP about the alergies and nasal drainage. Also suggested I go back on liquids for a few days. Since I was able to keep a small amount of food down at lunch she said the doctor doesn't think it is a stricture but I am swallowing air when sipping fluids.
I live in Ross Twp. Born and raised on the Northside near East ST. and Evergreen.

Rich,
I agree with Ron. Call your Doc ASAP. i would guess that it is either one or both of two things. Either a stircture as Ron states, your pouch is filling with the drainage from your allergies, or both. NOT NORMAL OR HEALTHY!
JP,
I grew up in Lawrencville but live norht of PGH in Allison Park, West Deer Township.

Sspoke with the surgeon's nurse. She said it did not sound like a stricture since I could keep yogurt down at lunch today. Suggested it was the drainage filling the pouch and I should get to my PCP ASAP. Also, I might be swallowing air when sipping liquids. Then she laid it on me -- some people just have this following surgery. It may or may not go away -- great. I knew things were going to well. Oh well, this to shall pass. But for the next few days it is back to liquids to give my pouch an chance to settle down. Thanks for all your support. Rich
