Hungry all the time?

As of yesterday, I am one year post-op.  Lately, I have been noticing that I feel hungry all the time and been grabbing bites of food just to satisfy that hunger.   Has anyone else felt this?  What did you do to overcome this?

I am not that far out but I have realized that ...it is ok to be hungry for a little while. I used to think that if I was hungry, I had to eat right away, now I just wait until my scheduled meal and then eat. snacking all day to keep that hungry feeling subsided made me that weight I was and I dont want to go back there. Hope this helps.

Hunger pangs are temporary and are usually more mental than physiological. When you get those hunger pangs, tell yourself that you're going to eat, but you're not going to eat for 20 minutes. During that time drink some water and think about what you're going to eat when that 20 minutes is up. By the time you're ready for that snack, you'll have forgotten about being hungry and will have moved onto something else.  It works! Ronnie

Boy, do I know exactly what you are saying.  I don't want to hear about head hunger.  It's plain old hunger.   A few things that have helped have been getting back to the dence proteins like chicken.  That makes me feel full for a while.  The other thing that I have tried is water loading.  I will pound 30 or so oz of water quickly.  I am talking in about three of four minutes.  That makes me feel full and supposedly makes it so you feel full more quickly the next time you eat.   I do know for a fact that chedder chips and twix don't help. Hello Brother Scott...... I think I have joined Dxe in the eat every 2 hour club.....I can hammer it down....but the difference between now and pre surgery is...my choices.... Example...if I eat grilled fish...I guess I can get down 12-14 ounces...but not fries, cole slaw...sad to say no hush puppies..just the fish...but 3 hours later...i'm ready to role again.... I have experimented on something....not for regular human trials....I eat something gooey, like a peice of bread, that I know will clog my stoma, and then drink something....it will give me a mild care of the foamies, which ****** me off, and I don;t wnat to eat for a while..... I think I could out eat a fat person, bite for bite, just not the speed, or substance.....If I didn;t dump....it would be blimp city... hey Scott....how is that fine young man that you claim to be your son???? When a craving hits, wait 10 minutes. Do something else. A good habit to get into is to take a walk instead of eating dessert. If, after 10 minutes, you still want sweets, gargle with an antiseptic mouthwash or brush your teeth. The aftertaste doesn't mix well

I have been eating way too much Messemike. I am 16 months out & have been noticing some of the old habits returning (ie, binging, that sort of thing). I'm having a hard time dealing with it. Thanks to exercise I have not gaind too much back (9lbs in the past 6 weeks), but it is very troubling. I know that I will eventually get a handle on this, but I thought I had those old feelings beat down for good. Hang in there. Jay
