Hi, I still have a week to go on the liquid diet, then 2 weeks on mushy food. I have the lunch & dinner soups covered for this week, but can't think of any liquid breakfast. Can someone suggest something I'll find here in Canada? I'm sure it will be one of those forehead slapping Homer's "Doh!" moments when I see your answers, but My wife nor I can come up with an answer right now except for yougurt which I'd rather not have for breakfast. Thanks in advance,

Regards,
Marcel

Greetings Marcel -=- A few months ago as I was proceeding through that loverly stage of this journey, I was advised just to eat several times a day, Use soup for breakfast, what ever works for you. I was always told that breakfast was a term used in the olden days to get the body working in the morning after fasting all night since dinner, thus, break-fast. I would have some puddings, soups, smoothies, crystal light, Carnation Instant Breakfast, I order the sugar free/ low card online from Carnation. You might find it in the blue box at some stores. Good luck, I hope that helps, I'm a LAP RNY so I maybe all wet and i"m sure if I am - someone will slap my hand and correct me. From the left side - Take Care KIM

Marcel, You can make fruit smoothies with protein powder or any whey.  I like to use fresh fruit.  They are very filling.

If your doctor allows it, I'd say this is the perfect time for protein shakes.  Note:  you can only process about 20-26g of protein at a meal, so you're wasting money if you have a shake with more protein than that.  I use a product that calls for 2 scoops for 40g so simple math says I just use 1 scoop.   I's suggested to use 8oz, but if you add more water you won't be hurting anything.  I also add DavinciGourmet sugar free and fat free syrups to flavor the shakes.  They come in 45 flavors, cost about$7 for 750ml bottle, and I get them from www.netrition.com .  I never used milk in mine, but I know many people do.  Protein shakes were much more popular with people hving RNYs a few years ago.

Marcel, I hope you’re feeling better after your ordeal this past week.   For breakfast I would suggest a scrambled egg made with too much milk so it stays rather soft.  You can also add a little cottage cheese to bump up the protein.  Just keep it soft enough so you could chew it as if you didn’t have your teeth; but chew it anyway. The other thing I would suggest for breakfast is any hot cereal made on the thin side. Use milk instead of water when making it, plus you can also add some cottage cheese. For a protein supplement, I like Syntrax Nectar and unflavored Unjury; both which are available online.  There are others that I’m sure are good too, but I haven’t tried them.

Marcel, I lived on a mix of egg salad and chicken salad, I would buy the chicken salad from the deli, and add 3-4 mashed up boiled eggs into the chicken salad. The eggs cut down the per centage of mayo in the chicken salad and boosted the protein. I would blent it slightly to make smoother. I ate it with a baby sized spoon to limit my intake and prevent over eating. My other favorite was refried beans mixed with beef veg soup, blended well

Marcel, I used cream of wheat, it's similar to oatmeal but a lot thinner. a nice hot serving in the morning will fill you up fast. Good luck. Dan
