DRINKING AFTER FOOD ?

Greetings OH Great and Mighty Locker Room ....

I know we have all been told different times when to resume drinking after meals, so with that in mind, I know what my doc says is 30- 45 mins.

The question today is between meal/snacking and drinking:

Lets say you have a piece of jerky or a small protein bar or a bag of nuts on the plane, do you still wait the specified time before resuming liquids?

If you drink after any foods do you just "wash" it out?

We need the "mature WLS" opinions.....

THANKS
KIM

You'll get no "Mature opinions" outta me!    However, I am curious to hear the "correct" response to this question, also. DD

Is this a joke?  Seriously, if I followed that rule after eating small amounts of protein during the day, I think I'd go bonkers watching the clock.  You don't have enough in your stomach to wash out with that small amount of food.

Kim, Different protocols for all docs. My doc had/has me on 5 to 6 little meals a day. For about the first year, I was completely religious about not drinking WITH Or for about 20 to 30 minutes AFTER any solid food. Now? The Habit still holds on most fronts. (and I'd say, that's "The Goal.") I don’t Drink WITH Meals except very rarely Like if I’m having a glass of wine with a meal. And I usually give it 15 minutes AFTER Most foods. I still eat 5 to 6 little meals a day though, Hungry or not…Just eat when "It’s Time." As a result? I’ve not really "been Hungry" in years…. Everyone and their doc seems to be different on this one…. Do what Your Doc convinces you of as long as that works for Ya’ll…. Yes?

Hey Guys,  I'm not sure if I'm what you would call "mature WLS", but I'm going to post anyway. Well, this is "What Works For ME". In the morning (around 8AM) I make myself a 16 oz. coffee, while that's cooling I pop one package of oatmeal in the microwave. I eat the oatmeal, then immediately drink the coffee. I don't eat any more than the one package of oatmeal and I'm full until about 1 PM when I eat lunch. At lunchtime I eat 1 low carb wrap (wrap, turkey breast, 2% cheese, pickle, light mayo) with no drink, I then wait 30 minutes or so and drink about 20 oz or so of kool-aid. I normally have a protein bar around 4 PM with no drink. 30 minutes or more later I will drink 20 oz more kool-aid. For dinner last night I had chicken breast, corn, and pinto beans with no drink, waited about an hour and had 20 more kool-aid. Later, while watching TV, I had some peanuts while drinking kool-aid.  When I'm flying, I know that I'm not going to eat more than the tiny bag of nuts, so I have no worries with drinking while eating.  For me, drinking while eating doesn't cause me to eat more, feel less full, or hungry faster. I still try not to drink with meals in fear ofcausing me to eat more further into my journey. That's as "mature" as it gets for me. Ronnie
