Psych Eval is turning into my worst nightmare!

Getting this Psychologist Evaluation is a pain.  This week he focused on 'what causes me to overeat'  Umm....I got a feeling that he thought if we could arrive at and treat why I overeat  then I could lose weight the natural way, you know...the natural way.... I had to get somewhat agressive with him by explaining that I thought he was missing the point of the eval which I need to continue my journey into getting a date for surgery before a catastrophic event prevents me from it (like dying).  He wants to focus on my past, my family, MY DEPRESSION and getting more depressed by the minute.   Get this, he said, I believe you are perfectly capable of handling this surgery and being successful at it but let's look at why your overeating.  Okay doc, here's why I over eat, comfort, anger, hunger, fun, bonding, etc..  Now let's cut to the chase and fill out the paper work.  Well....Crappola! CardFan wants me to stick to one more session but I'm already getting itchy feet.  This time, I'm calling my bariatric office and having them to recommend me someone they use and get R Done!! I was actually comfortable with him enough to use him as my regular shrink - but that feeling is fast disappearing! Preacher Bob.

Preacher Bob -=- You still smoking that funny stuff ?  Maybe you ought to have the psycho contact your PR committee and talk with them ....  Would you like me to get a few natives of SoCal to "pray" for this guy?   HANG IN THERE AND BAFFLE HIM WITH A GOOD SERMON OR TWO .... From crazy CALI KIM

Show up to your next appointment nude. That should make him sign the papers quickly to get you into surgery.

I'm not sure that would do it, Druid!  I'm thinking that would only make me popular with the local media outlets.  LOL Bob.

My psych told my PCP I was a high risk to fail becuase of my past eating habits. Shes a Genius, I have had eating issue all my life hence I am fat, but because of that I should not have WLS I guess once I lose all the weight she be Ok with me getting WLS,  Don't go in nude order in food from a couple of different resturants and have them alla rive 5 mins before your appt, set up a buffet for you and him on your final appt, kind of a going away party.

Good luck I feel your pain. They say it gets better

bmcmo, write to me directly.  I, too, suffer from depression and I may be able to help you on your way.  I've been through it all: OA, addiction counseling (for carbs), adult children of alcoholics ( even though my grandfather who died before I even remember him was the alcoholic;  my father vowed to never touch the stuff after his father would beat my grandmother), counseling for short term depression, later, by a few years, followed by counseling for long term depression, and finally, about 8 years after that I was finally diagnosed as being bi-polar.  Since then there have been changes in meds as well as talk therapy.  I've had to change shrinks because various ones were no longer associated with my HMO.  I've been lucky for the last 7 years to have a very straightforward guy about my age who doesn't take any **** from me but is kind and firm during our sessions.  His recommendations have always been right.  It's worth looking for one you can work with.  He/she 'll have a great influence on your life.      Considering you present cir****tance, if you don't get the eval you want, shop around for another shrink.  Start first with recommendations from your primary physician.  Then, I would contact your insurance company to see who is available in your area.  You may want to Google them to find out a little more about them.  Or, contact a crisis hot line or hospital to see if anyone has any comments about them.      I know this is going to sound lame, but take life one day at a time.  Take some time to pray.  I know that I was a very high risk patient when I had my RNY in 2000 so I was on prayer lines accross the country.  I'd ask someone to pray for me and soon found out that there were congretaions all over the place praying for me.  We all need that sort of support sometime.  So, no matter what religion you are, ask your friends and family to pray for your and to have their congregations pray for you.  Their prayers will bring you peace.       Despite my mental condition and being a naturally anxious guy, I had made my peace with my God and was totally calm before my surgery.  My surgeon didn't believe but I didn't care.  I had my family come in and we joined hands in prayer before I went down for surgery.  That was one of the sweetest moments of my life.     So, take it easy and e-mail me directly if you need further encouragement.  Bob
