No weight loss in 10 days
So I'm 8 weeks out from my RNY and I haven;t lost any weight in the last 10 days. Well, I've lost and I've gained, but the bottom line is that I remain at 298. I am drinking lots of water, exercising, taking all my vitamins and getting all my protein.
Has anyone else already plateaued?
Is this normal?
I am trying hard not to be discouraged. I am also weighing myself every morning - not sure if I should.

Think of your weight loss like going down stairs with a landing about every sixth step. First you go down a few steps (loss), then you take a few steps on the landing (plateau). Well, it isn't actually a plateau until you haven't lost anything for at least 4 weeks. I bet you've lost about 30 pounds up to this point. Your body has gone through a lot of changes in the past few weeks. Your body doesn't quite know what to think about the new routine. All your systems were used to the old eating habits. Let your body adjust and the weight will start to drop shortly. In the meantime, make sure to stick to your diet and exercise plan. My body loses the same way. I'll drop a few, then a break, then drop a few more, blah, blah....Give it a little time and the weight loss will start again.
I also weigh myself every morning. Right now I weigh more than what I weighed at the last Sunday Weigh In. Don't get discouraged if your weight goes up and down. It will happen. If you get too discouraged, then just start weighing every week. Some guys here only weigh during doctor visits. I've got to know what I weigh daily, whether I've gained or lost.
One other thing, try changing up your exercise routine. See if that kicks the loss back in gear.

hey David,,
It's normal....your body will loose and regroup for a while, and then regroup.....
if the scale gets to you, put it in the trunk of the car.....
you are way not close to finished....remember to exercise....
you are fine....

Dave, I hit about 3 stalls on the way down. It happens. Just stick with the plan, And double check by measuring your food intake and tracking it for a week- Really Close. Make sure you aren’t sneaking in any extras by accident. Hang in there. Many folks who once had that week or so of- "OH Crap! I’ve Stopped Losing!!" Have a "Oh Yeah! This sh*t Still Works!" in their future… Best Wishes- Dx

Hey David, been there done that. It frustrated me to no end. I actually had to add more calories. I think my body went into starvation mode. At one point I was going down pants sizes but the scale didn't seem to be moving. Hang in there, look at your intake and make sure you are making good choices. It will kick in. I record my weight once a week, but I weigh every day. Can't help my self I just seem to need to.
