Tattoos
Hi Everybody,
This is where I stand, I am going to self pay. I have filed online for my hardship withdrawal from my 401k Friday . I expect it to take a month to get my money. I met last Thursday with my surgeon (Dr. Doug Olsen ) in Nashville @ Centennial Hospital. My Question is has anyone had experience with tattoos after WLS. I just got a big tattoo on my upper arm in December. You can see my tattoo on my profile. I was just curious loosing the weight is far more important than having a cool tattoo.
Thanks,
Steve
Hi Steve:
I've never had a tattoo before thinking of getting one now that I am closer to goal.
Always loved canoeing, and the outdoors, thinking of getting a wolfs head and paw prints, with the BWCAW printed above it (Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness).
It's the one place that if I die outside doing something I love, that's where I'd like to be.
I take several trips up there throughout the year, if I could make a living there, I'd probably move.
Take Care
Dave N
PS my surgery date was July 25, 2006.
My overall highest weight was 320, I am now at 176.

Steve,
I had 2 tats pre-WLS... Both in places where serious weight loss/gain would have little affect. (inside forearm & lower calf)
Now that I'm at goal, and my arms have been getting toned, I just got a new one on the left shoulder/upper arm, a week ago.
It's crazy to see how little room the tattoo guy had to work with now.
After you drop down to or near goal weight, I think there will be some distortion, but I doubt it'll be all that noticeable to anyone but you.
Be Well,
A.J.
