Thanks for the wishes
HI all,
Like Adam, I would like to thank all the people that have sent me wishes for Monday's surgery.
I'm in the final stretch now, 2 days left, and a snowstorm hitting here tonight. I have a bunch of stuff I want to do in the house before the surgery, that I won't really be able to do after due to weight or movements required (such as assembling and hanging wall storage in my home office) and possibly cutting and planing some maple and walnut to make cutting boards.
I'm nervous, it's 2:00 am and I know I have to get myself to bed, I have faith that things will go well Monday, but it's still unknown and there is the fear of pain. I'm scared they won't give me enough pain killer, I feel they never do.
Ok, enough ranting for now. going to drag my butt to bed. Thanks for listening to my diatribes, it somehow feels good just to write it down.
Hi Marcel, you are right where you need to be. The funny thing is you will be sitting on the other side feeling rather dumb for worrying so much. My surgery reminds me of my dating days. I used to put so much into potential relationships, the excitement, the worrying, etc. Then when I met my future wife I knew within 2 weeks in my knower that she was the one and I felt incredibly stupid for wasting all that energy trying to win all these other girls.
The nights are long right before the surgery, but the day itself goes extremely fast and you will find you are not as nervious the day of surgery. Pressure them to give you good pain meds for when you leave. And while there, DO NOT wait to feel pain before you take something. Your goal is to stay out of pain. Pain in the surgery and the first 5 days afterwards is sort akin to dehydration. If you wait until you are thirsty to hydrate, you are probably too late and will suffer for that.
Also know for the first 2-3 weeks, your sleep time will be all off. You will be up in the middle of the night a lot. I picked up a DVD set of MASH and other programs, checked out the OH websites, etc. Just be prepared for some long nights after. Not necessarily painful, just that your rest system is a little out of whack because of the sleep you get during the day.
Anyway, things will be fine. Just don't be a stranger. Ask any questions you have along the way.
Will be praying for you.
Blessings,
Greg
Marcel my man:
WOW... BIG MONDAY...
I will be sending huge positive vibes your way. With the fiestiness and convection you have shown with your posts you will do great !!!!
By the way... I don't know if the other men have told you but the nurses who take care of you will all be 10's... flirty...low-cut uniforms...sexy..horny..willing...able.... OH I FORGOT>>> THAT WAS WHAT THE PAIN MEDS DID TO ME..
Turns out my nurse made Phyiliss Diller look like a 10.. was meaner than bear**** I told her if she treated me any worse I would get really really homesick... NAH>>>
I had complete pro's... effecient..friendly... they were the best
You'll do great
