Had my surgery on Wed (3/14), and came home Friday.   So far things are going very well - no complications, no naseau.....  Walking a lot, and getting in about 3 ounces of liquid per hour.....    Feel very good overall, and ready to get on with living!!!!!!!!!  I will give myself ample time to heal, but I do feel really good (in part due to the percoset I'm sure), and I'm excited to get back to life........     Thanks for all the encouraging words pre-op and answering so many questions for me - I'm sure I'll have plenty more in the days and weeks to come..... Thanks Kevin - I think I'm doing pretty good at balancing the walking and resting, but thanks for the reminder............    I do tend to be impatient, but I know it's very important to give my body some well-needed recovery time.  Problem is I'm getting BORED already!!!!!!!!!!!   But, I'm very grateful to be feeling good enough physically to be bored (if that makes sense)..........  Thanks again for the support - Chuck

Bored?! Oh Yeah! That’s one of the Obstacles that many fail to mention, But everyone has a good bit of during those first Tough weeks. Quick, send out for the DVD of EVERYTHING you never had time to watch. I caught up on years of missed HBO series. Hang in there, get your rest, and walk when you can! Best Wishes- Dx

Chuck, Welcome to the loser’s bench!  It’s good to be home isn’t it?   You have now started your journey and it sounds like you already know what to do.  Get outside for some fresh air as often as you can, as it will help clear the cobwebs from between your ears.  Take deep breaths and enjoy the view of the Wasatch Mountains.  It won’t be long and you will be hiking, biking, and skiing in them.

ChuckNut, It may seem like little things, but I used a tennis ball and some elastic exercise bands to drive the boredom away. I was able to squeeze the tennis ball and work on my grip strength and use the exercise bands to do some minor leg and arm exercise when I first got home.

My though was every calorie burned at the bigger size was one calorie out of my life. After a few days I was able to do some longer walking, but the early stuff put me in the mood to get into a exercise habit early and the habit has stuck with me for the last 6 months as I have expanded to biking and rowing.

Congratulations on your move to the losing side
