Gentlemen, several days ago on the main page a women posted re: starting a fund to help people who needed WLS but either didnt have insurance to cover it and/or couldnt afford it.  Well, the responses were all over the place, mostly against the idea for a variety of reasons, and some almost insulting to the woman who posted it.  I've seen this constantly on the main page, mostly again with women, and always starting with some seemingly innocent post.  For this reason, I rarely post there, just visit for the entertainment. Now dont get me wrong, I love women dearly and am not suggesting that they are the only ones that can behave this way (well maybe 99% of the time).  My point here is that I really value the Men's Forum and the guys here.  I think we are a great group and everyone here is so supportive.  There is a variety of information available because we've all had our different experiences and are willing to share without the headaches.  I just want to thank all that have supported me or responded to my numerous questions over the last year of my journey. I've often told women friends of mine, that men dont hold grudges with men, we either work it out, get over it or kill each other, the first 2 options being the most popular.  I think Issacc Asimov said it best in a quote from his Foundation series: "Violence is the last refuge of the incompetant". Have a good weekend gents.

John, Ilike having a drama free zone.....without the constant need for reassurance, and petting, about, my ass looks big, ,my husband didn;t put up the dishes, lets fix the world, i'm retaining water, hair falling out, and god forbid ...spotting I personally have no need to expand my knowledge base on these topics, anymore than I need long full eye lashes, stronger finger nails, or the best way to keep my undies stain free every month... I love what this board has become, and I like the ...."Get your AZZ in gear"...responses We are a very compasionate group for real problems, and a good joke.... I learned 2 years ago, stay away from the main board, if yo don;t have a bee keepers outfit Russ

I agree whole heartedly John.  It's very rare things get contentious in here.  Almost always supportive.

Well Said: The way I look at the few "flare-up's" we have here they start fast, burn hot and die instantly. I look at you guys like my four brothers; we support each other 99% of the time... the other 1%.. once it is over... we go back to being brothers... no grudges...no drama....No problems. There are times I need you guys to tell me to pull my head out of my ass ( thanks DX)... other times I need an atta boy.. most of the time I need the connection I have with you guys. Yesterday was a perfect example; I attended a function and saw friends I have had for 20 years; many have not seen me at goal weight; so I got alot of the negative comments I can't stand..." You get any skinnier you will blow away... are you O.K. ?... you are not going to lose any more weight are you ?.." Now I have some great things to share... I said to them... man you don't know from losing weight... I am part of a men's support group... and 200; 300, and 400lb weight loss is not uncommon... at 150lbs lost I am a light weight... remember I was up to an unhealthy 320lbs. and now I feel so healthy... my weight has been the same for 6 weeks and it must be what my body wants to weigh today. Their response turned very positive... and the decussion moved away from me and on to health... I give this forum the full credit for giving yet another tool... as I move forward on this journey. Your post is "on the money" for me too, John.... It's really nice here in the locker room....I can scratch or spit as I wanna and never have to worry about who sees or comments...we do work out our own problems as you noted too! Main board? I never go there anymore...tho I do stop by the Ontario board to see what other canucks are talking about....course they're most all of the feminine type there....so I don't offer much up....I save my real WLS issues and questions for right here.. The Mens Locker Room! I'm a proud locker owner here! :-) Jim
