Pulse and BP

Hi Just after my vsg on Jan 18 my BP dropped to be low normal and medication was ceased.  At the time my pulse was also up to around 95.  Previously, on meds, it was around 65. Now, 8 weeks later and 37lb lighter, my BP is high normal [I'm 61 yo] and my pulse is around 50.   I'm wondering why the change.  Maybe the greatly reduced food intake? Best wishes Rick

Yep, I just cut my last BP med in half yesterday.  After working out this morning, breakfast, and some caffeine, the BP was 112/59.  I hope to be off the BP med in about 2-3 weeks.  I've been on that for 13 years.  Congrats. Greg

I guess that must be the reason.. went to my family doc yesterday and bp was 100 over 63!  It has never been that low.  She says that one more month of good readings and I will be off of everything.  right now I am only taking 1/2 of 1 pill that i was taking 2of before surgery, plus another one. So that is even better news than the 50 lbs I have lost since 1-22-07.

Same here Rick. Both of mine are down. No Meds and it runs below 120/80 and my pulse runs between the mid 50's to mid 60's. Before my pulse was always around 100.

You sure you're not just showin off????? Hey, its a great  thing,...getting healthier, isn't it??  Sounds like progress, in a confusing sorta way.  I'm 50 and still hoping my will get that good.   I'm still on two of the three BP meds before surgery but down to half the dosage.  I've been told I may need the meds the rest of my life but I am still hopeful it will get better as I continue to lose. Be happy and keep posting the good news as it occurs,..unless I tell you to cut it out, I can't take anymore,...then I'd appreciate you slowing up a bit.

Rick, Ever since my surgery, I too have been able to get off my blood pressure meds completely. I had to go for BP checks for 4 weeks after and it was consistently good.  I think that daily walking has helped me as well. Enjoy the good developments.
