Thanks Daniel for the directions here!  Well I was surprised Monday to get a call from my Doctors Office telling me my Surgery was approved!  Seeing my paperwork was just submitted to the insurance company on 3/05/07  I was told it would take 4-5 weeks for approvel.  So here I am with a Surgery date of 3/27/07   Now did anyones else's Doctor require they go on a Pre-Band Liquid Diet of 2 weeks?  Well mine does.  I'm on Optifast, 800 Calories a day.  5 Shakes (which are very good!)  But let me tell you, this is the first time I've ever gone without Solid Food...EVER!  Two Days complete, but I had some bad withdrawls tonight.  I felt like a Heroin Addict Detoxing!  Also I've been having some pretty bad Headaches, is this also normal?  I got through it thou.  I just kept telling myself, "Nothing tastes as good as Thin Feels"!   Over and over.  I guess I did the right thing Monday and got rid of all the Food in my house...Everything Gone!  The Fridge has Water & s/f Jello.  So how has everyone else delt with this?  And what is the average stay in the Hospital after Surgery?  And after Surgery what is the Menu consist of?

Ok, that's enough, I'm 100% Italian from NY, and I'll talk forever (lol)!  But I feel very lucky to have a Support Team like the one I've found here...So thank you~~

Rocko, Congratulations!  I remember being really happy when I got my approval. I didn't have to do a liquid diet, but my doctor did require that I lose at least 10 lbs. before the surgery.  Liquid diets are no fun.  But you will be over the hump in no time. Good luck.

Hi Rocko, the withdrawal is perfectly normal.  The good news is that once you get through the third day it is smooth sailing on the headaches.  That is a detox, you are absolutely right.  Scary thing is that how bad you feel right now, think of what all that stuff was doing to you.  I would use excedirin for today and tomorrow, then stop it after that.  You can't have the aspirin products real close to the surgery.  But getting through the detox today and tomorrow still gives you 11-12 days without aspirin products.   What will blow you away is for the first two weeks after surgery you will be consuming about half of what you are taking in now.   Hang in there, this part is worse than the after diet.

Hey Rocko, 5 Optifast a day is good, I'm allowed 4 Are you limited in choice to 2 flavors also? The only availability here is Vanilla & Chocolate. I'm not sure I'll ever want to eat chocolate again in my life. It IS a detox, and you'll notice how quickly there is a difference. After a week, I was sweating less when doing work around the house, I felt... well just better. It's hard to explain but I knew that some toxins had left my body, I wasn't feeling the same. Good luck to you, it's great that you got approved so fast. See you on the loser's side.

Regards,
Marcel
