No Tuesday Chat- too bad
Last night I sat in an empty chartroom for over an hour hoping someone would pop in . However nobody showed up, and that is a real shame. I looked forward to the Tuesday night chat sessions. I think it is a real shame that because one night things didn’t go as planned we have to scrap the whole thing. Kind of like taking your ball and going home. I do go to a support group in my area that is great but it is mostly women. That is ok but I like the idea of just the guys getting together and sharing things. I would like to see a men’s support group in my area and it is kind of in the works, but until then I hope we can give the Tuesday night chat another try. I know next week I will be there again even if I have to sit in the room alone again.

Hi Alan, I would be in favor of everyone meeting on the message board and having several conversations opened through the posting and replying we are doing now, but I won't be coming back to the chat room. The two different times I was there I found it a waste of time. Too many conversations at once. There are a couple of benefits to meeting on the messageboard at the same time instead. First, there are streamlined conversations that stay on topic and people can get real answers. And second, anyone who was not able to be there at that exact time would benefit from the wisdom of the group because it would be saved here, unlike chat. I was not on the chat room the night of the fitness discussion, so that was not a factor in me not going back. Another option could be doing a skype conference call. That would be even closer to a real support group. But I think the threaded conversations provided by the messageboard would be best.
Hey Greg, Your absolutely right. Using the board for organized conversations about specific support issues makes much more sense than does the chatroom. Take the exercise session for instance. We, us guys, should've picked a few exercise gurus and had those guys start a thread at a specific time. Then whomever needed advice in that area could post a reply and have their questions answered a few seconds later. I also think that an informal chat, at an organized time, in the chatroom would be neat as well. Ronnie
Hey Al, If the Chatroom Thang works for you- Go for it… I’ll drop by. Not so much takin’ the Ball and headin’ home, Sort of like an old ‘fixer-up’ car- I don’t want to keep pushing it if it’s not gonna crank. But, "keys are under the seat for anyone who wants to give it a try…" We had a ‘notorious’ Internet Troll- "Lady Oscar," (he went by L.Oscar in the chat room) Drop in with the soul purpose of causing discord. He’s good at that. He normally trolls the main-board here at OH But is all over U Tube and "Other WLS Boards" as well. Couple the nature of "chat" –where not much detailed info can get passed, With some Main-Board member/pot-stirrer aimed at p*ssing in the pool (from the diving board) And it’s just not worth it for many. I think it would be useful as just a "Hey, how Ya Doin’’" sort of thing, But the Thread/Reply format here allows for ongoing back and forth discussion That can stay on a topic and pass any amount of info- Detailed or Brief. Best Wishes- Dx
