Try that on Flaout Flatbread sometime!  It's better than a tortilla in my opinion, Jim! ken

I regularly eat a couple of slices of the frozen California Pizza's white or chicken pizza . It pretty tasty without a lot of thick crust. I use to eat four or five big slices in the old days but now 2 normal slices is plenty combined with a salad for dinner. I am 11 months out so I would wait a while if I was just starting out.

Before my WLS I lived on pizza I could polish off a large with the works with no problem. (Guess that’s why I weighted over 600 pounds). I was afraid after WLS I could never eat pizza again, but I found a place online to get pizza that I can eat. Nutrition wise I don’t think it is to bad. They deliver it in a Styrofoam box with a dry ice pack in it, and the prices are fair. http://www.pizzafree.com/index.html

I used to "LIMIT" myself to only half of an extra large, plus a slice or two of the one I bought for the family. I recently had about 3/4 of one slice and while it did taste great, it now holds no special calling for me. On another note, I have found that I can eat just about anything but I DO pay attention to my stomach when it says enough is enough. I am down 98 1/2 # and am on track for a 100# in the next day or so!

I don't know what surgery you had, so I will give you a non surgery specific response.  If your surgeon is saying it's ok to have pizza, try it.   You might find that it has lost it's "flavor".  I remember wanting pizza after surgery so badly, so I had it.   I have to be honest, even to this day (over a year later), I still remember pizza tasting better then it actually does to me right now.   I use to eat it 3 times a week, my kids love it, now if i eat it once a month it's more then enough.   I do make a "mock" pizza for myself that  I like better then the store pizza place stuff.  I take a low carb wrap (the wraps I have are actually kind of thick, if I couldn't find a thick wrap, I'd use a low carb pita), put it on a cookie sheet.  I put a bit of sauce on it, some shredded cheese, and most of the time a bit of grilled chicken.   The pizza I make has about 20 grams of protein and 15 grams of net carbs (this varies depending ont he sauce).  You put the whole thing in a 400 degree  oven and bake for 20 minutes.   Personally I don't like the "south beach" meals.  I find the food gross, highly over processed, and the meats to be of low quality...but hey thats just me.   Scott

Here in Chicago they have a NO crust pizza.  Instead of a dough crust which I can't eat....(at 21 months out bread still swells inside of me and causes pain) they use the sausage as the crust and put the topings on that.  I can only eat a small slice, but it lets me feel like I am having pizza when I go out with my friends. Good Luck to you. Alan
