Locker Room = Home Away From Home

Hi Guys, Just a quick note of gratitude to the Men's Board and OH. I have been away from home for three-plus weeks due to a death in our family. During that time I have managed to post to the Locker room a few times and read posts whenever I could. As some of you no doubt know, the support, advice, good wishes, shared experiences, and humor provided make this "space" a kind of second home. I can't adequately tell you how much your "being here" meant to me, even when I couldn't join in the chat. So, thanks for helping those of us who cannot or aren't yet ready to log on with our one or two cents worth. Every posting counts. Yikes! I'm getting past my Guy-Sentiment Quotient! Please don't banish me to . . . you know . . . the . . . uh . . . main board. I'll try to man-up before my next posting. Seriously, the Men's Board is one of the best parts of WLS. Doug

Hey Doug,  Sorry to hear about your loss.

I agree totally about the Men's Board. Even though I have never seen any of these guys, I still consider all my friends.   Ronnie

Dear Doug,

I'm sorry to hear about your loss.  I feel the same way about this board.  And I look forward to visiting as often as I can.

Doug, sorry about your family loss… Banished "TO" the Main-Board? "From," happens often enough….Banned, Banished, or just ‘snubbed.’ Here? You’re even Welcome to be a passive participant. There are no expectations…. Perhaps it’s a Genetic "Fear of Commitment" thing? Glad you’re back home to normal schedule. Best Wishes- Dx

sorry to hear doug, on another note, i never experienced anything like this board as well. i've never vented personal information about myself ever until i came here. and asking for help was something i just never did until coming here as well. somehow i just felt it was ok to dump on you guys and ask if i had my head up my ass and if so would you pull it out for me. i've learned so much about the other guys, myself and sense of community and group from this bunch. they've helped me in ways i hope i can repay somewhere down the road. it's just nice to know there's a place we can talk to our friends and not be judged......i messed up pretty bad with the pain drugs and all i got was support to get off them. no morality plays or lectures, just support and plain talk. i'm saved from that episode now. i bet you feel like i do, this is the first and last site i see when i turn on my computer. i really want to know what's going on with you guys and if i can help, all the better. great bunch of guys here..........

Hi Doug,

Glad you're back (and still opposed to dumping!). This board is kind of like a home away from home. I've been here since about three months before my surgery, so about a year and three months. This is a very special group in that it has a lot of people who hang around actively long term.

Hope you're family is recovering all right from your recent loss.

Best Wishes,

Dave
