It's Not Easy Being Big!

My 6 year old son just brought me one of his story books.  It is entitled "It's not easy being big!"  The book is geared at children, and features Sesame Street's Big Bird and Elmo.  For those of us who have kids you may be familiar.  The book itself isn't that interesting, but while I was on this forum, I realized that the title of this book emphasizes why many of us are considering, or have had WLS.  I know this is a little silly, but it kind of hit home for me in a way that wasn't intended by the author. --Dave

so true Dave, it's hard enough getting along in this world when you're normal size let along big. i took a minute to reflect on your comment. it's been a long time since i really thought back to before my surgery and how big i was. all the pain in so many areas that came with that weight. not just physical but how i felt in society in general. i'm definately taken more seriously now and that kind of ****** me off a little. i'm the same guy, just not fat. why equate fat with stupid? anyway, it's hard to look confident and convincing when you're the only one in the room sweating. so i have to be realistic about it. i had it coming. our society worships thin and i was a big outcast. even though our society is filled with overweight and obese people (hell, we're the minority now) i was an outcast and felt like it. thank god we have people around us who loved us when we were big and could see through the blubber to the real us. friends for life in my book......Carbonblob
