Seoul

Hi Guys,

I just got to Seoul and check into my hotel.  So far I'm on the road 11 days and have had no problems whatsoever.  I feel really confident about traveling after WLS now.

I do have to make a concerted effort to eat the right foods and to drink enought to compensate for flying.  It dehydrates a bit.

Asia is a seafood lover's dream.  I am enjoying the variety and all the Asian flavors.

I would like to post on the weekly weigh in, but I'm not sure I trust the scales here.  First of all, they are all in kilograms and I would have to convert to pounds.  My sense is that I'm doing well, but I'll weight myself when I get back home to confirm that on a scale I trust.

Enjoy Korea - they have some very tasty dishes.   They make a black bean paste stew that I'm sure is very high in protein.   The base is made of black bean paste, and the stew has tofu and veggies in it.  It is called Den-Jaung-Chi-Gey (sound it out LOL).    If you can tolerate beef, then you can't miss the Korean BBQ.  And, if you like really spicy things and can tolerate cabbage, have some Kim-Chi-Chi-Gey (Kim-Chi stew).   It is very spicy like the cold Kim-Chi, but doesn't have the strong vinegar taste, and the cabbage is easier to eat since it's been stewed.  I wasn't sure how familiar you are with the local cuisine, so I just thought I'd throw out those 3 ideas.   Have a great time, and enjoy your time there.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I love tofu and beans so I will try out Den Jaung Chi Gey.  I had a steak yesterday for the first time since surgery.  I only ate a very small piece (maybe 3 oz.), but had no problem.  It was really good.  so I may try the BBQ beef as well.

I've never been to either Korea, but my students love South Korea, because of the food (bbq'd meat and Kimchi), the shopping and because it's only a $400 trip from Japan.

Enjoy,

Dave

Glad you're having a great time.  Enjoy the scales if they are coming up low.  I sure would be. Maybe you could do a How to travel after WLS for Dummies book upon your return. Pictures would be good.  Bad Food/Good food,...clean plates before WLS/partially eaten plate after WLS & what a to-go container looks like,....etc. etc.
