Still 1 to go

Well I went to the doctor yesterday and I lost 1 more drain.  Thought I would lose the last 2, but 1 is still draing too much blood.  I had my surgery 10 days ago (panniculectomy and bilateral mastopexy) and I am doing great so I am not going to complain.  The pain is less and less everyday.  I can do the stairs much more often, I can bend a little more and showering is so much easier.   So another few days with a drain, I am looking at it as a small price. I learned something from the doctor though.  My stiches......seems I have thousands......are disolvable and need to get wet to help disolve.  Showering and getting my stiches and scars wet scared me.   The doctor said NO it is very important to shower everyday and get them all wet, it will help with the future look of the scars.  Didn't know this. I also get to start driving today.  I am a little scared of this, but it is another step back in reality. I will admit last night I had to take a couple vicodin (crushed of course), but today seems to be pain free so far. Ah the price we pay for health and Beauty!  I would do it again in a heartbeat! Thanks, Alan

Hey allen, sound like you are right on track...I'm getting ready to go to the PS, it's been about 7 weeks for me, lower body.....I have had to have a couple of aspirations, so keep the drains as long as you can.....I had mine in a month, and had to get them out to go back to work as a nurse....you know you have to pick your battles.... strange, I took no pain meds at first, but not that the nerves are regenerating, I need a little vicodin, Oh playgirl called and wanted to know when to sent the photographer over to your house... Thanks Russ, I am telling myself 4 drains and down to 1 in 10 days is a good thing.  Its funny though that even going thru this now I am already thinking about the lower body lift.......I know it is a year or 2 away.  Good to know about the nerves reginerating and that, that might cause a need for pain meds later on. That is why I always say this board is so helpful  Russ when the photograpers called I told them about the drain so they said they would hold off a little longer.   LOL Thanks again, Alan

Alan, I had 2 stitches that didn’t dissolve and were like little ‘hang-nails’ sticking out of me long after I had healed completely.  Like 2 little hard plastic stumbles poking out. (and in) The doc said, “Don’t worry, they’ll eventually wear away.”  !?!  They drove me a crazy.  So, in my usual patience, ---Tweezers didn’t do it for removal.  Needle-nose pliers did. Down to one drain in 10 days!?  I’m jealous.  I got my drains out at 4 ½ weeks out.  Don’t rush ‘em, no need to develop a Seroma, but stay super germ free! Hope you continue this fast pace toward feeling Great!! Best Wishes- Dx

Thank-you so much for the encouraging words.  WOW 4 1/2 weeks with the drains!  As I said I am not complaining.  Hopefully my last drain will be taken out Monday night which will be about 2 weeks. I do feel like I am heeling at a fast pace....kind of makes me almost feel like a poster child for all of this. Thanks again and please keep on doing what you do for all of us. Thanks, Alan
