Gay connotation to wls?

Hey pkque Is there a gay perception associated with WLS?  I have never heard this and I'm over two years out.  I am active in my local support group.  Used to be very active here and haven't heard it mentioned as a perception.   Are there gay men in this room.  Certainly.  I think the main perception that I have seen is that it is the "easy" way out.  It has nothing to do with sexual orientation.  We all know that this is far from easy, especially those of us that overcame major complications. Now, for the person that made the "bubba" comment about North Carolina.  Let's get real.  Some of us actually have master's degrees and hold jobs in professional settings that even have telephones and fax machines in them.      My best friend is gay and never has he mentioned it as an issue or "perception" that it is gay and believe me if I do one thing that is slightly effeminate he lets me know. I hope this helps, but DxE always gives the best answers. WAD

Speaking as a guy that was born and lives in NC and has a pickup truck with a license plate that says "BUBBA'S" on it. I also have an engineering degree and my best friend for the past 10 years is gay. I also attend gay parties on a regular basis, so I must be an enlighten NC Bubba. I have not heard any one saying WLS is gay, but of all the guys that I know that have had WLS about 50% of them are gay. I do know from my gay friends there is a strong objection to obesity in the local gay community unless you’re a chubby chaser. When Bob M. and I were out to dinner last week after visiting Jeff H. after his surgery I had a gay Asian guy tell me I looked sexy which was fun and disturbing at the same time. I guess my wife of 26 years better watch out I’m turning heads everywhere these days. I guess the short answer is who cares what other think if it saves you life it did for me.
