Second week, no weight loss?
Ben,
I know it's frustrating, but think about what your body has gone through. We have all
thought at one time or another that we were the one that is procedure was not going to
work for. It WILL work, just give your body a little time to make it's adjustments. Walk as
much as you can and try to get in your water and protien as difficult as it may seem.
Hold on for the wildest ride of your life.
Life is great, Rick
Thanks Rick, I should have known better than to get on a scale! I have been working hard to fight the head hunger and sticking to the foods that are recommended. I am just frustrated from the diet and no diet pepsi and only being able to eat small amounts. I have purchased a Bow-Flex, gazzelle easy glider and a sit down bicycle for my garage, I cannot start working out till the end of the month, so I am just going to do the gazzelle and bicycle till then. I think I have lost inches cause I just put on a shirt to day that I couldnt wear before due to my belly! I am like a roller-coaster of emotions right now, is that normal also?
Been there done that. It is very frustrating isn't it. I was looking for the weight to start falling off and it seemed to take forever to loose any thing. I lost about 40 lbs. pre op and I think my body went in to starvation mode. Hang in there it will start to drop. I am 12 weeks out as of tomorrow and I have lost 70 lbs. The first couple of weeks I was wondering what was going on, but I finally did start to loose.

Hi Ben, can you give us an idea of the soft foods you are eating and liquids? Are they high protein, low carbs or did they tell you mash potatoes were good at this point. (They are not, by the way.) Just want to make sure somebody didn't give you a bad diet for soft foods to rule that out.
I know for me that for every time I switched from liquids to soft, then soft to regular foods my system had to readjust for 3 days or so but then kicked in. Your body has been starving in the liquid stage so it is holding onto anything it can get right now. Make sure you are getting 60grams of protein a day, 64 oz of water+ and then take an ounce of mineral oil to help with the BM. Things will progress from there.
Greg
The soft food diet consists of refried beans, poached eggs, oatmeal, yogurt, pea & tomatoe soups, they did say mashed potatoes but I have only had that once. The liquid diet is clear broth and popsicles and crystal lights, etc. Sounds like my body is still trying to readjust. I hope so. My sister says I look like I have lost weight and I guess thats what matters, maybe the inches are going while my body adjusts. Thanks for your help and support.
Ben:
Thanks for te update.. consider yourself lucky to have found this board so early in the journey, the first 12 MONTHS of my journey, I did not know this support group existed.. I was flying solo.. avery lonley place to be.
I decided to weigh myself once a week, I picked Sunday... I knew my weight would drop and boy did it... In fact my entire family told me I was losing too fast.....
My suggestion to you is only weigh in on Sunday.. and post it here on this forum... that way you will be able to "keep current" with fellow supportive fellow WLSR'S.
Use the energy not being spent on the scale to walk, breathe fresh air,sip water, get your protien in and enjoy your new life.
Keep up the good work
Kev-
Thanks for the support Kev, I have come to realize what everyone is telling me, It Will Come Off! I have been combating the head hunger and it is getting easier since ZI started relying more on liquids when I felt or thought I was hungry. I will not be weighing myself until after the 15 when I see my doctor. I will keep everyone posted, it seems that this group is my biggest supporter right now. Thank you for listening. wait til I really get comfortable and unload more of my feelings.
