15 year old---- Getting Lapband SOON!!!
Hi Nate and welcome,
I just had the lapband done on Dec 4th 2006. The liquid diet is tough. My Dr. had me on it for 3 1/2 weeks prior to my surgery and then 1 week after my surgery. So for a total of 1 month I was on liquids. But you know what? If you want this to work you have to put your mind to it and do what ever is necessary to make this work.
This is a great place to come and learn from all the guys. To see that your not alone and there are other guys going through what you are going through. I try to drop in here at least once per day. Even if you don't post and just read the posts you will get a wealth of info.
Best of luck on your surgery date and if you have any questions about what to expect with the lapband please feel free to email me at [email protected].

Nate,
1st of all,, congrats on getting your approval. I am 38, and I had to fight like hell for insurance approval.
I was a 15 year old football head like yourself. Even played in college. I got banded back on 12-5-06(feel free to read my profile).
Advice? Umm,,,, really try to stick to your pre diet, and get your exercise program down NOW. That way, once you get your band, good habits will all ready be in place.
Nate, youre gonna have to be patient with this band. The weight loss is SLOW. So youre gonna have to do good for a LONG period of time, to see weight loss. So,,, that means no more of this "I'll do good today, and have 6 brownies tomorrow" type attitudes. Get USED to doing right.
It wont be SO hard after your band, cuz you wont be so hungry. My best advice is to set up good habits NOW, so it wont be so hard to adjust to afterwards.
Oh yea,,,,, practice eating sloooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwww... Thats major.
