Vomiting

OK, I gather it's normal but it sure ain't nice.  Yesterday I ate a 3oz piece of soft fish for lunch - easy.  Today I had the same and added a tablespoon of diced tomato and a tablespoon of beetroot.  A few minutes after eating, probably too quickly, the indegestion started.  And 5-10 minutes later I had to bring it up.   Tonight I might have a protein drink...... Been there and done that? Rick 7 weeks post vsg

Hi Rick,

Not sure with VSG, but with RNY you would be right on schedule with that. I guess it doesn't matter how big the pouch is, until about 3 months (maybe more), it's still healing. Seeing it's March, I guess you're in prime "barbie" season there in Oz?

107? That's a lot hotter than Sydney was at this time of year. You can barbecue without a grill!

Vomiting..hurling.spewing...yaking..tossing cookies...blowing chow..booting...losing lunch..spitting-up...with or without finger down the throat.... you brought back very viceral " flashbacks"... It got so common I carried a blue plastic baggie with me for the car... I was the king of chuncks... I would turn green, my family would say.. are you ok dad?.. I would say...feeling a bit green.. excuse myself from the table.. go yak... come back saying how much better I felt.... very different... It was russian roulett with my food choices. The foods that stayed down on monday... blew out on Weds.... really strange....I searched long and hard for the "go to safe meal" you know the one safe meal at home or a resaruant that would tase great and stay down... well...early on I never found it... It just got better and better slowly over time... tonight I had turkey chili on a flour tortilla ( I have had it ten times w/ zero probs.).. not tonight... it hit like a ton o bricks... gassey...grumbling.. very unsettled.. took tums.. it helped w/ the gas.. but I was in big time pain... layed down and it got much better...now I feel much better.. so at 13 Months out it is still a crap shoot...  I will say there is a stomach flu in the house, my 10 year old came home early from school with it.. so mabey that is part of it... But it is all worth it... hang in it gets better.. thatn it gets worse..than it gets dofferent... but over all it is so much better... Kev-

Apart from this current episode, how many months did your early experiences with vomiting last please Kevin? Rick

Rick, Yep, the nausea and even vomiting from eating a ‘touch too fast’ and even "a bite too much," can happen with all of the Bariatric procedures. Slow, Slow, Slow…. The learning Curve can be a bioche! It would be Great if we could "learn to ride our bicycles, Just from watching others fall off!" I spent my first year spitting out "That Last bite" into a napkin rather than be sick over it. The "trick" is learning to stop about 2 bites Before you are full/satisfied, and waiting for your new stomach to ‘catch-up’ with what you ate. Do your damnedest to Avoid Vomiting. It really does put a strain on the "new goods" and can make your new plumbing easily irritated for a few days following. If you have some VSG Specific questions, also drop them by- http://www.vsgfaq.com/

Keep dropping in here though. SO Much of the process is Very similar no matter which procedure. Best Wishes- Dx

Dx,

That rubber chicken is a scream! I couldn't find the section in Cosgen. Is that your own private stock?

Thanks,

Dave
