Anyone know of a Sports medicine Dr in the Mass area? I am looking for nutritional information regarding some bodybuilding supplements and My Nutritionist knows nothing about this area. So I though possibly a Sports specific Dr might? I curently take Creatine and Nitrobolic Extreme and was looking to add to the stack muscletech's Gakic, leukic and creakic but wanted to check with some one about this first. I was talking to a trainer at my gym but he has no experience with WLS patients and how our body’s absorb and break the pills down.

Thanks Doug.

Hi Doug:

Don't know about a sports medicince doctor, but this page tells about the supplements that actually work for strength training and bodybuilding. Creatine and BCAA's (maybe Glutamine) are the three main ones that come to mind. Beware of anything with the name "Nitro" or "Extreme", because a lot of time, the manufacturers are trying to fool you with tiny amounts of supplements, OR you have to take larger doses, which drives up the $$.

Good Luck,

Hey Doug,   I live Haverhill and probably seen that I work for the Orthopedics dept at Cambridge health alliance. I am one of their 2 private Ortho/Surgical techs that work in the OR. We have one Sports Medicine doctor that I work with. Not sure if a sports medicine doctor is what you're looking for. They mainly deal with sports injuries and are more surgical and rehab than nutrition. I can give a bunch of names if you want to talk to them. My nut pointed me in the direction  of a book written by the nut guru. Her name is Nancy Clark and she has a book on sprots nutrition. My nut said "if Nancy says dog **** is good for you, it must be right". I guess she is the nut of all nuts. Email me [email protected] if you wanna chit chat

Doug I would recommend a nutritionist who has a background in strength training/bodybuilding. It has been my experience that MD's generally don't have a clue about nutrition other that what is published by the gov't (ie, food pyramid, etc...). Sports medicine deal with ortho problems (spains, fractures, joint/tendon problems). Maybe your surgeon's nutritionist can make a few recommendations. Good luck.  Jay
