Last Supper
Al, Best of Luck to you. Take it from most of us....the liquid "fast" was the hardest part to get thru. Once you get past the 3rd day it should be easier. I had my surgery at the end of Oct. so I had a Thanksgiving feast as my last supper. It was great!! Thankfully, I was even able to eat a little on the actual holiday as well! Regards, Mike
Congrads!! Welcome to the team AL.
My goal that kept me motivated during the preop liquid livershrinking diet,...lose as much as you can before surgery so when it starts coming off fast, it will be frokm the lowest possible starting point. I lost 14 lbs in 13 days pre op. If I got hungry, I diverted my attention with stuff like looking at the before and afters and the profiles of the great losers here on OH.com. Its a great place to hang-out!
You will soon be a brother of the scar.
Joe
Al, That liquid Pre-Op is a hard one. I had steak this weekend….. No such thing as a "Last Meal."
Hang in there. Have the greatest next week! More you can shrink that liver, the easier your surgery will be for the doc, and the sooner you’ll be home and walking away from those pounds. Best Wishes- Dx
How about saying it was the last "abnormal" supper From now on, you will be eating a NEW NORMAL (to WLS) supper! I have lost the desire for some of the foods I used to eat and eat only small portions of the ones I like. For instance, I have been working on the same 1/2 sandwitch for nearly 5 hours now. I fix it when I get up to go to work in the morning, eat some on the one hour drive into work, wait 1/2 hour then take about 2 hours to drink 4 cups of coffee (decaf) and now I am starting back on the sandwitch. There is still about 1/4 of it to go and I might be done with it in the next 1/2 hour, not sure about that though.
I used to be like many here when eating out. A pitcher of Iced Tea, a full large meal, some of the wifes leftovers, and sometimes a desert to go with it. Now things are much better but I don't miss the old days at all, well that isn't entirely true, I miss the ability to just eat a meal and be done with it but then that is what helped put me in the state I was in!
I didn't have to do the liquid pre-op diet, just the last 24 hours. I did do 3 weeks of liquid after though! Stock up on the sugar free popcicles, I tend to favor the slightly tart lifesavers myself! I honestly would rather have one of them over a super sweet desert anyday!
Congrats on the upcomming surgery! only 9 days to your new life!
Get it hot, hit it HARD,
Hammering away the pounds!
