'nuther FART
For years, I've been afraid to take a jump off anything bigger than about an 18" drop, lest I hurt myself. This weekend, I was called to a forest fire, and before I could stop myself, I took a leap off the engine for about a 3 foot drop. As soon as I was committed and mid-air, I thought, "Oh **** this is gonna hurt..." (arthritis that I've whined about here before). I landed, *AND NOTHING HURT*. No broken bones, no shooting pain near the twig and berries, nuttin'. I know that by now (late 40s), I'm more geezer than young buck, but I can't help but think I'm getting some of my youth back.
I think people who were originally obese have (and can keep) really thick bones, which allows us to be bounced around a little bit more. I was looking at my xrays the other day and could not believe how thick the bones of my spine and hip are. Wonder if I've been able to keep the bone density by doing heavy compound lifts, and lately running?
At any rate, your lightness combined with a relatively heavy skeleton probably allows you to do a lot more than most people with "Arthur"-itis.
