Dx: A "theator peeps" left of center I am shocked !!!!! My son Jeff is an actor looking the further his career with an MFA.. He was finalist for the USC program last year... but did not make the final 12. Any advice would be appreciated

Kevin, I’m livin’ off my M.F.A. Actor? Tough business….even for an USC Finalist... Only about 5% of the members of the Unions- SAG, AFTRA, and Actor’s Equity Earn their livings from acting. The rest rely completely or almost completely on their "Day jobs." Which for actor’s is a "Lot of Waiting Tables." In contrast? Design / Tech Folks Turn down more work than we take. I’m United Scenic Artists Local 829… 90%+ of our membership earn our living Designing / Painting, doing Art… Tell him to watch the credits at the end of any movie… even if it is an Indy-Film that has only 6 actors… you’ll only scratch the surface of the Design/Tech folks around 200+ It’s Steady work, and has the "Making Contacts" factor…. Harrison Ford was a Scenic Carpenter right up until he took-off work to film Star Wars. Still, If he gets to a town with enough Theater Companies and Commercial Opportunities A talented Guy can make the "Live like a normal person" income, With the "2.3 children, 4 bedroom house, and the 1 car/1 mini-van" Lifestyle… To "Make it Big?" - Talent, Skill, Hard-work, Looks, Contacts, etc…? Not enough. Got be "Standing Where the Lightening Strikes." Best Wishes- Dx

I'm checking those out right now and they look great. Hell, I'm used to left. 90% of the non-military people living abroad are probably "left of center" (particulary these days), probably just people looking at sh***ty governments abroad and then conciding, "well my government does that, too."
