Hi Dx, Starting weight: 304 This week: 296 So the Optifast Diet is doing it's work. The thing is that today is my birthday: the big Five-Oh , and I'll be damned if I spend this milestone on a liquid protein diet. The hospital had requested that I do two weeks of Optifast, which means I should have started tomorrow, but I figured the extra week wouldn't hurt since my liver is engorged pretty good. So I'm allowing myself this day off, with a little bit of guilt in the back of my mind, but the firm intention that it's only today Hmmm.... Amazing how I can rationalize and justify something I want. Regards, Marcel

Well, the 1200 calorie daily max, partial liquid diet (Breakfast & Lunch liquid with a very small solid food Supper) has had the desired effect! I have made my  ‘Silent Goal’ to have my BMI migrate from my original starting point of Super Morbidly Obese (BMI 57.4390) to just Morbidly Obese (BMI 49.9675) before I get my first fill on 08Mar07. I know it sounds weird to desire to be Morbidly Obese, but I have had the word ‘SUPER’ (BMI 57.4390) in front of it so long that I will be dancing in the streets to lose it.

To Recap… Two… Two… Two… Farts this week! Dropped my first 50.6# Overall, and BMI entered the next range down!! Ooooo Raahh! With that all being said, here are my results to date…  05Oct06          389.0   -           Initial Consult with Illinois Bariatric Clinic

14Jan07           385.8   -           3.2# loss since Initial Consult 17Jan07           383.4   -           Pre-Op Consult - 2.4# loss (Start Liquid Diet) 21Jan07           371.2   -           12.2# loss since Pre-Op Consult 28Jan07           362.8   -           8.4# Loss since last Sunday 30Jan07           359.6   -           Lap Banding today 3.2#! Loss since last weigh 04Feb07          355.2   -           4.4# Loss since surgery date. 08Feb07          352.8   -           Post-Op Consult - 2.4# loss since Sunday 11Feb07          349.6   -           3.2# Loss since Post-Op Consult 18Feb07          350.2   -           0.6# GAIN since last Sunday 25Feb07          344.4   -           5.8# Loss since last Sunday

Hello all,      Last week I was thrilled to announce that I had met my goal.  Two days later the scale said I had gained three pounds.  I upped by water intake and ended the week a pound down.  It's a  strange ride we are all taking.    One other thing,  yesterday I had to change a flat tire for my wife.  I ended up having to wrestle with 4 tires and did a lot of other physical activity.  Funny thing was I never got out of breath or felt fatigued.  It hit me, is this what it feels like to be "normal"?  If so I think I like it.         Here's my numbers:     Starting weight, 1st consult (January 13, 2006):                              339     Weight day of surgery (March 20, 2006):                                            300     Weight last week:                                                                                    186     Weight this week:                                                                                    185     Total lost:                                                                                                   154                    Life is great,   Rick
