Hello From Singapore!

Hi Guys, I have just enbarked on an adventure since my WLS seven 1/2 weeks ago.  I am on a business trip to several countries in Asia.  And, I am writing to you from Singapore.  Although I have been here many times before, this is my first trip to the region after my surgery. I had no problem with getting the foods I needed on the flights.  And, the hotel has a lot of healthy choices.  So I should be ok.  My checked bag was lost by United Airlines.  It had all of my portein supplements, clothes, toilet kit, etc.  Fortunately, I did have a change of clothes in my carry on bag.  And, I had a couple of protein bars.  No one here has any idea of what protein bars are.  So I need to be really careful on my food intake. And, there is no way that I can get underwear and other clothes here.  I am going to Bangkok in a couple of days.  There is a regular tailor that I work with that can put together of couple of suits and shirts for me.  But I'll be on my own until then. I'll let you know about my progress as I move forward.  There is one thing that I have learned about international travel after more than 20 years--be flexible.

Dx, The hotel has an express laundry service and that is what I am using.  However, the charges are really expensive.  No choice though.

DX, where in the world did you get those smilies? You seem to have them for everything.

Ahh...Uniiiited! I've never lost a bag on a trip to and from Japan, but anywhere else and... Sounds like a nightmare. They should be able to make a suit in a few days. Watch the tail and sleeve length, they make make you look like a 1920's Englishman!

Dave, Yea, I usually fly Singapore Air, but I didn't have a lot of notice for this trip.  So I had to take what was available.  United is the pits.  I had a first class ticket and it wasn't all that great.  The business class on Singapore is actually much better than the first class on United.  The tailor in Bangkok that I work with knows my preferences.  He does nice work.  But you are right, I have had some friends that have gone to tailors that  made them look like 1920s Englishman.  It sounds like you have tried this before.

Jim,

I had a couple of suits made in Thailand by local Indian tailors. Made me want to walk around saying "Cheerio" and "Pawppycawck".

Hope You Having a Really Good Trip,

Dave

Wow Jim, you are quite the adventurer.  At 8 weeks I was nervous about a trip from Nashville to New York.  An overseas flight was incomprehensible.  Sorry to hear about the loss of the bag.  Hope they can get that to you soon.   Safe travels. Greg
