2 days post-op and GAS PAIN! GAS PAIN! GAS PAIN!
That was the worst pain of the whole experience. I kept saying I wanted to fart the equivalent of Rhode Island. Unfortunately, about the only thing that helped was walking cause it makes things move around in there. Hang in there, it does get better soon and then it is one heck of a fun and fast ride.

Kev,
For that "trapped Gas?"
A little trick from my Dr.---
Lie on your left side with your knees slightly bent.
A pillow between your knees.
In this position, because the way our intestines are arranged,
Gravity will aid the natural peristalsis of the intestines
And the "Trapped Gas" will "Pass on Through" much quicker.
When you can, Walk.
The motion of walking also helps greatly.
That and Gas-X were Great for me.
Only 2 days since surgery?
Oh Yeah! That Gas can be a major Pain!
HANG IN THERE! It DOES Get easier each week!
Hope you’re feeling better soon!
Best Wishes- Dx
Hi Dx,
A couple of guys were a little worried that you might have been "swept off to Oz". Glad to see you survived the twisters. Now, if Randall is okay!
Just got xrayed again (and CT'd). This doctor says he can't see any narrowing, but that there is a lot of trapped gas (even after not eating or drinking for 14 hours). I haven't been passing much gas at all since surgery, so I was surprised to hear that I have "gas". It does, however still hurt to lay on my back. Maybe something is causing decreased mobiity which is giving me gas (?!)

Hey Kev,
In addition to what dxe said....whenI got in a good position in the bed, I put a pillow on my belly, and put the back massager on the pillow....calming resonance, i don;t know but it did help some....I know the pain med helps the gas pain, but it slows the intestines down...a trade off.....you will be suprised what comes out of you....
I know you will welcome yelling....Thar she blow's!!!!!

2 things besides what everyone has said. One thing that helped me was bending over like I had to tie my shoe. I know it's a strange one, but here is an even stranger one. I got this one from a RN who had RNY. She said to use your hands and try and push the gas out of the different areas. Almost like if you had a charlie horse, how you work the area. She said to massage and try and push the gas through your system...Just sharing what I heard...take it with a grain of salt. Brian
