I was told by my nut and my doc not to worry about protein in the first couple of weeks. More concerned about dehydration at that point. Once I was able to get on to full liquids I mixed in some protein powder into the diet, but didn't worry about it at all in the beginning.

if your doctor and nut allow you should be able to add  protien powder and make a shake with milk  2cups of milk and 2 scoops protein powder  ( i use fortress its 23 grams a scoop) gets you to around  59 grams of protien,  do it once a day, but you will be sipping it for hours, and that should be enough to keep you going, as you get more active the rest can come from other food sources.  My nut says 80grams a day is great for men but anything between 60-80 for us guys is enough. As others have said, just keep pumping the fluids its hard to believe how hard it is to get 64oz of fluids in a day if you are only sipping, ah for the good ol days when you could drink a super big gulp(64oz.) in an hour or two without even noticing that you drank it

The day before my surgery, I went and bought a months supply of isopure fruit drink.  They have 20g protein and 20 oz water.  It helps get both.  I would do two a day.  I can't lie.  Some were tough to choke down but some were fine. http://www.isopureoutlet.com/inc/sdetail/82 Scott

Need to get in your Protein But are having some difficulty early on Consuming enough? I had great success with- Zero Carb Isopure. Comes in 20 oz Glass bottles, Calories - 190, Carbohydrate - 0 g, Protein - 40 g It comes in a number of flavors- Passion Fruit, Apple Melon, Grape, Blue Raspberry, Fruit Punch, Orange, Pineapple Orange Banana, And Mango Peach. On the Down Side- All of them have an after taste that is a little like Sucking on Old Pennies. My first thought when tasting it for the first time- "Who peed in this?!?" The Upside? Cut it half and half with some Crystal-Lite And the flavor is hidden completely. Don’t try to get it all down at once either, Just have a little, 4 to 5 times a day. You get in more "water" this way and Since your system only processes about 30 gms of Protein at once anyway, Slowly "trickling" it into your system insures you Get the maximum benefit from the protein. If you’ve got a GNC store nearby, Stop in and buy a few. It is cheaper to shop around on the net And order a case, but only after you know that you will use it. I found the Orange, mixed with Crystal-Lite Lemonade Was great and so was the Mango Peach Mixed with Crystal-Lite’s Peach Tea. http://www.isopureoutlet.com/inc/sdetail/82  Just thought I’d share What worked well for me.

Best Wishes- Dx

ISOPURE was my savior for the first few months following surgery. 40 grams of protein without any hassle.

My surgeon recommended Profect or New Whey liquid protein supplements.  I'm 5 months out from my surgery and still use the New Whey supplement.  They come in pre-packaged 3oz vials and don't taste nearly as bad as a lot of protein supplements. Personally, I can't stand the ones that you mix with milk or water and I am a slave to convenience so these are perfect for me.  The down side is they are both fairly expensive products (about $3 per serving).
