March 50 Mile Exercise Challenge - Who's In?
Welcome to the 50 mile challenge for March! It doesn't matter if your non-op, pre-op or post-op, everyone is welcome to participate in this challenge. This challenge originally started out in April 2006 as a 50 Mile Walking Challenge - but it's not limited to walking. We're looking for folks to simply make a commitment to exercise...you can walk, bike, swim, treadmill, eliptical, stationary bike, kayak, whatever....what's important is setting a goal for yourself and to STEP OFF THE SIDELINES AND GET IN THE GAME! Each week you can report in on the Men's Board to let everyone know how you're doing vs. the goal you set for yourself. This is not a competition with other members - the only competition is with yourself. The first official checkpoint will be next week So, are you in? I met my personal goal last month by logging 120 total miles eliptical/stationary bike. I'm going to scale back that goal a little this month and go to 100 total miles, 80 eliptical/treadmill/stairmonster and 20 sationary bike. I'm going to try and keep up my lifting regimin and have that be my focus this month. I had a nice check in with my doc a couple of weeks ago and I gained three pounds of muscle since I saw him in January. I think I can keep up that pace. I do have a spreadsheet I can email to you if you'd like to use that to track your progress. Just shoot me your email addy in a PM and I'll get it to you. Stronger Everyday. -Dan
Hey Dan, As promised, I'm in. My goal this "first" month is to reach the 50 mile minimum. Once I figure the miles for March, depending on the numbers, I will set the bar a little higher. The goal: 50 miles walking-treadmill/eliptical Looking forward to it. Dan, You've Got Mail!

Man, you're on top of this challenge this month!
And, like every month, you know damn well that I'm in.
Alright, Daylight Savings Time starts in 10 more days... So that means more sunlight for after work bike rides & runs. And, If it warms up soon, I might be able to get in some open water swims, instead of boring lap after lap in the pool. (The chlorine really f**ks up my hair!)
Shooting for 200 miles in March.
I'm gonna ramp it up to get ready for the quickly upcoming race season.
I've just been accepted as a charter member of the newly formed Jersey Shore Triathlon Club, so maybe being accountable here as well as accountable to some of those serious triathletes will push my training to the next level.
Thanks for keeping the challenge alive.
It really does help be keep track of my work and gets me motivated to put up the kind of numbers that I feel I should.
See Ya At The Finish Line.
Be Well,
A.J.
Greetings !
I'm in! I just got "LOW" enough to get on my treadmill Won't burn out the motor.
I'll shoot for 50 for the first month, but I have 10 days of hotels this month and have to get the right clothes to work out in the hotel - I guess old boxers won't work.
So Let's go!
