Howdy Gents. It's time to check your stats for February. How did you do? Here are my numbers Last Month: 144 miles (105 eliptical, 39 stationary bike) Miles week of February 7: 21 (18 eliptical, 3 stationary bike) Miles week of February 15: 48 (37 eliptical, 11 stationary bike) Miles week of February 21: 8 (4 eliptical, 4 stationary bike) Miles week of February 28: 43 (34 eliptical, 9 stationary bike) Total miles February: 120 (90 eliptical, 30 stationary bike) February Goal: 120 (90 eliptical, 30 stationary bike) Percent of month elapsed: 100% Percent of personal goal completed: 100% Percent of 50 mile challenge completed: 240% I stepped up the cardio the last couple of days to meet my personal goal for February. Back to the weights tomorrow!  Remember its not important to reach the 50 mile mark, particulary for those who have recently had surgery, but getting out there and moving is the best thing for many of us. Stronger everyday. -Dan

Dan, Well, I didn't do it this month, but getting closer. Miles in January:  10 Miles in February:  35 This is completely walking/running on the treadmill.  I'll be glad when the weather gets better so I can start running outside. I'm happy with my improvement and am confident that I'll meet the 50 mile goal next month. Thanks for the motivation.   It's working. Floyd

You're doing great Floyd. I'm so glad that the treadmill is working out for you in the winter months. Adding running outdoors will be an adjustment for you, but will be a welcome change of pace as well I'd imagine. Viva la warmer weather!

Hi Dan,

60 miles of jogging for the month. Was shooting for every day, but had to stop 4 days because of the narrowing small bowel.

Best Regards,

Dave

Do you jog before or after lifting? I've heard some do it before and some do it after. I think I remember reading in the latest Men's Health that it's better to do cardio after lifting, but I don't remember the reason why. Something about endurance maybe? Anyways, glad that the jogging is working for you.

Hi Dan,

Weights raises the metabolism long term, so jogging afterwards allows for calorie burn on top of a raised metabolism (I think that's what they say).

I do mine on an empty stomach before lifting. I use it as a warmup for weights and the empty stomach helps to burn a little more fat. Jogging is feeling almost effortless. It's also good for the balance as I'm running on top of different types of ice and snow.

Orginally, I did it just to start losing weight again. Now I've got an internal hernia and can't seem to comfortably eat enough to stop losing (dropped another pound today).

Thanks,

Dave

Hey Dan,

Kicked up the running this week and completed two 10K runs.
And, the nice weather here this afternoon allowed me to get in 5 extra miles on my bike during lunch hour.

Once spring arrives, I'm planning on some 250 mile months.
Awwwwww Yeah... C'mon warm weather!

And then the tri-athlete shows up. Very nice as usual A.J. You're setting the bar pretty high. I personally think I'm scaling back a bit on the cardio trip for March. Just a tad though. I love looking at numbers to guage progress, but want to focus more on lifting to see if I can build up some more muscle while dropping fat.

Hey Dan, I've been lurking about on the 50 mile challenge for a few months. I think it's time to join in. Normally, treadmill (walking) and eliptical are the two I use the most. I love to swim, but don't have access to a pool for swimming laps. Don't believe I would be up there with you or AJ, maybe Floyd and I can fight for last place. LOL.  Here's looking forward to next month!

Ron,

Love those smilies. I've added those to my collection! Smiley-out-the-butt girl still wins first place, though!
