Beer?
Hey Chris -
Dj'ever go to the Cardiologist?

Rick, I have loved beer for just about forever and I worried more about having to give up after surgery than anything else. The thought of never (or rarely) eating cookies, cake, or ice cream again didn’t bother me much; but life without beer was concerning to me. Yes, I had to change my old habits and learn moderation, but I can still enjoy a few beers every now and then. I have no idea how VSG affects the way you feel after drinking a carbonated beverage or the way the alcohol affects you; but beer was tough for me to get used to again. It still tasted every bit as good as before but the carbonation made my tummy hurt for the first several months. Now the first swallow or two give me a bloated feeling, but after that they go down I’m just fine as long as I drink them slowly. I’ve learned that the gulping of yesteryear is a thing of the past. Like learning to eat slowly, I’ve learned sip my beers. I enjoy them just as much…and consume far less. Keep in mind that your liver has to metabolize the alcohol as well as your excess fat; so don’t drink very much at a time. Also, do whatever your doctor tells you to. If your doc told you an occasional drink is fine, that means occasional; not a six pack a day. Give it some time; the journey is worth the sacrifice. BTW, what is the weather like in Australia? We're expecting a snow storm tomorrow.
May Your Lantern Burn Bright,
Paul
