Both..-and- the topic that gets started is not the one that finishes the meeting.  I remember once we we started out talkign about diet and ADD and ended up talking about the planets and third grade.  ..oh..and -everyone- talks at once :)

Both my kids were diagnosed with ADD in the first grade. The oldest is 22 and the younger one is 17 now. They have taken Concerta (12hrs version of adderral) for years and if really helped both of them. My son is in the top 1% of his junior HS class now and will start taking college classes during his senior year. He only takes his meds on school days and I can see the difference when he is off them for long periods of time like in the summer months. He is much more focused on the things he is doing and not so scattered minded when he is on his meds. Caffeine also works to help stimulate the brain in the same manner from what I have been told. Maybe that is why my wife lives on coffee all the time to help self medicate.

Brian, Several months after our marriage, I was diagnosed with MADD (male attention deficit disorder).  It initially manifested itself by memory lapses for important dates, but soon progressed into a total lack of interest in household projects such as fixing leaking toilets, replacing light bulbs, or checking the mousetrap in the garage.  Shortly thereafter I also developed a hearing problem, especially to the higher audio frequencies common in female speech.  Fortunately, I have learned to cope with my problems by simply disappearing into the shop where I can spend quality time making sawdust and daydreaming without interruption.   On the upside, Mrs. G has learned to be a pretty good plumber, electrician, and general handy man.  She changed out a light fixture last week all by herself.
