ADD anyone else
Last week I took my 7 year old to the Dr. to be checked for ADHD, the Dr. said that yes he showed classic symptoms and then started asking family history and started looking at me kind of funny. I think maybe she wanted me at first, but then she asked me if I ever was tested for ADD. I briskly said no, there was no such thing when I was that age, just a regular beating by my teacher and my dad. She asks me more and more questions and pretty soon she has me walking out of the office with a bunch of stuff to read. Well low and behold, I am starting to see these papers talking about me. I just went through the phsyc eval a couple of weeks ago and they found nothing, been through a lot of counciling and councilors in the past and they never mentioned anything. The next day I give my son a pill and within a half an hour he turns around 180 degrees and wow what a change. Anyone have any knowledge of Adult ADD and what it is all about?

hey Brian,
i don't want to mention who it is i know that has it (family friend) but i would suggest to keep reading up on it and see your doc. this person i know is on meds for it and it has changed this person completely. she's in her late 40's. she just can't function without it. a complete mess off the drugs so she has to be monitered to take it. sorry, that's all i know.....Carbonblob

I was diagnosed with ADD one year ago and was placed on Adderal XR. It is like coming out of a fog when the pill kicks in. I used to constantly jump from one thought to the next. When I would sing a song I would flip to another song just by one word or phrase in the song I was singing at that time. My wife thought it was funny the way I jumped around so much. I can now concentrate much better and it has improved my work life.

I was diagnosed 9 years ago and remain unmedicated. I had problems with adderall due to the crash. My son was just diagnosed too and is on the new stratera,..which is a non-stimulant. I may give that a try.
Yea..they missed all of it when we were kids.. which is why we all developed coping skills :)
I echo what others have said. Keep reading up on it..there's alot out there.
BTW...-the- funiest thing on the planet is an adult ADD support group.
