Hello Brothers, Major FART day today.  I've been biking everyday at lunch time and longer on the weekends.  Just got a bike computer with odometer, clock, etc. and road tested it this morning.  I confirmed the accuracy on a stretch of road with my car's odometer. Cruising from SFO and the Bay Trail up the coast around South San Francisco, I logged a bit over 25 miles in 2 hours 21 minutes. A year ago, I think 2.5 miles would have been a stretch! 2nd and 3rd FARTS of the day.  After a shower, decided to try on a 40" pair of Wrangler jeans that have been on the shelf for years.  They fit great!  The only problem was I had to go the the garage to get the hole puncher because my 'small' belt was too big. None of this would have been possible without WLS. Feeling very blessed today! Best to all, Dennis

Dennis,

Good ride! Biking is so fun, just feels like you can go on forever. You can pretty much temper the pace to fit your needs.

I used to love long rides. In fact, when I lost back when I was 32, I was really paranoid about knee injury, so I only biked for cardio until I was down to 190. Started running and rollerblading after that.

Keep on Keepin on,

Dave

Dave, I am amazed that it really does feel like I can go on and on.  The Bay Trail is literally right on San Francisco Bay and the area where I bike gets very little use.  I probably didn't see more than 10 people in over 2 hours.  Of course, it was raining off and on, and when the sun comes out, there are a lot more folks out.  But overall, it's a great flat ride. 25 miles??  Dude, did you get lost. LOL. Maybe you should get GPS and put that beside your bike computer.... Even as a teen, I've never rode longer than maybe 5-10 miles. 25?? I'm too lazy to ride that far, plus if my wife found out, she may take away the keys to my truck. Keep on keeping on!!!  I may have to look into getting a bike, thanks for the idea.

Ron, The nice think about where I bike is that I just have to stay on the trail, turn around at the end, and go back. 25 miles sounds like a lot to me, too.  When I started riding about a month ago, I probably was doing about 2-3 miles for the first several days.  Now, doing it everyday, I look forward to the weekends so I can get in a long ride. Can't recommend the bike enough!  Great exercise and fun.  Even in the wind and rain today, it felt great! Dennis

I wish I could spend a tenth of the time you spend with the weights.  Just never got into it long term, but I have to start.  Got to help tone up after losing so much!

Amazing!  I used to love to bike.  Can't wait to get back on one this spring.  We've been planning to go buy another pair since the last ones were stolen (5 years ago!) but haven't gotten around to it.  You're post reminds me how much I used to love it...maybe we'll go this weekend and do a few test drives. Awesome accomplishment! Ken

Best of Luck, Ken. My motto is don't over do it , and just add some distance as you can.  If someone had told me that I could pedal 25 miles, I'd have thought they had me confused with someone else. Prior to this, the most I ever biked was probably about 6 miles.  That was several years ago when I did the Atkins diet.  It worked for a while, but as always, the yo-yo came back the other way. My bike was hanging from the ceiling of my garage for about 4 years until I got going recently.   It's the best exercise I've ever done.

Oh man, is it ever unfair reading the post of you guys who don't have the good fortune to live in the snow belts!   Today it has been raining, gray, cold...in the upper 20's and no hope for the near term anyway.  My bike, actually both of them, my Yahmahawg, and the one with pedals are still bound up tightly mocking me, waiting for late March when life outside the house becomes bearable again!!  Keep up the great work Denny!!!
