I started into the 300# Range and suddenly I started getting warts, everywhere.  Hands, arms, legs, and I don't mean 4 or 5 I mean 50.  Should I go to a dermatologist before pursuing my date?  Anyone else have these gosh darnit warts!?

I would go to the ER right away. All I can think of immediately is shingles, and if you get medicine for that it can clear up pretty fast. Not sure if that's what it is, but I would get it checked right away. Good luck, Dave

Dave, my g/f just got shingles. it looks more like chicken pots and they follow your nerve lines. plus her eye is swollen shut and she says it's the worst pain she's ever had. we even keep the house dark all day due to light sensitivity. it's absolutly horrible. she's really suffering. so i don't think it's shingles. they itch and hurt at the same time and you have severe flu like symptoms on top of everything else. the pain will last a minimum of month but can last for years if not treated in the first 72 hours. it's been almost a month for her and she's going out of her mind in pain. most get it on their middle section but of course, she had to get hers on the face. her lips are swollen, eye and the red rash just follows all the nerve endings in her face. it's unbelievable. there's nothing to much you can do either. the super sad fact is that crying really kills her eye and with Chili, that's all she does. poor thing. i wish i could do something for her but i can't........carbonblob

Hi CB,

Shingles are rough! Dad had them and it them a whole year to clear up! My recollection is that it starts out differently for different people, but could be wrong. Hope she's one of the ones that clears up quickly.

Hope You are Well,

Dave

ah, so you're know about them then. sorry to hear your dad had to endure them. i just thought you get the flu feeling and are really sick no matter what the other signs are. don't know anything about really except what happened to her. this is a first for me. i hope she clears up too but she's seeing the doc on monday because she can't hold out any longer. she's really going insane. thanks for thinking of her and yes, i'm hanging in there too.......Carbonblob

I hear that what's key with shingles is catching them in the first 24 hours and getting antiretroviral meds during that period.

Here is a link to a web site I found. http://familydoctor.org/209.xml, If you want just do a search for warts. This pretty much mirrors the other results I got. pan head

Bob, Although I have gotten an occasional wart, I never had an outbreak all over my body and I am still over 300 lbs.  You should probably go to a dermatologist immediately.  However, don't let it interfer with your surgery date unless the doctor orders a delay.

Hi, I have a problem that could be similar. I have these nodules (for lack of a better term) that are growing in groups. They are called epicondylomes in French, not sure in English. they are similar to warts, but not wrinkled like them. just little tubes of flesh sticking out. It started in my armpits, just a few of them. My doctor used a laser scalpel to take them off, but they came back in greater number. Same procedure, Now they have come back in my armpits, inside my tights, a few on my back, on my stomach... mostly in skinfolds. Well you get the point. The most painfull ones I have are  a big one inside my tigh, I have to keep a band-aid on it because it gets pulled on with every step I take, and one on the Périné (that line between the scrotum and the anus) mine is more of a fold and one big bugger has decided to grow right in the middle. So I have to reach in and place stuff around everytime I sit, or it pulls and creates a burning sensation that is painfull. I sure hope this is going to diminish with weight loss, and that I will be able to get rid of them once and for all. The doctor told me they aren't contagious, but he hasn't told me they'd spread all over the body. Plus it is a little painfull to get them removed. I hope that is not what you have, and that you will have success in getting rid of them. And I hope mine won't come back when I get them removed after surgery & losing weight. Regards, Marcel
